It seems like Australia didn't push forward because they didn't believe that they would be able to qualify anyway.

They wanted to go out on a high with the win against a team better than themselves.
Yes, I think that was their mentality before and during the game. They said, lets win this and whatever happens happens. If they won and Ghana won too, they would have gone through.
So lets excuse their celebration for the 2nd goal. But after that someone from the bench should have told them that they need 2 more goals, that Germany is leading and that they should go forward like mad. Why didn't they? Why did they waste time during throw ins? Why did they wait for counters instead?

Yes, counters might be a good way to play against a team that pushes forward with all it has, but when you have 10 minutes to go and you need 2 goals, you need to push forward too.

I blame the Australian coach for this.

And I'm afraid you know less about football than the average American. Yes, even if you have played it.
I know a hell of a lot more about football than you Andy. I know more about the coaches, know more about the players, know more about the tactics and I know more about the culture.

And you want to know why?

Because over here it actually matters.

EDIT: and I still play. The fact that you played and quit before you even got to be 30 says it all.

Maybe somebody did tell them that they needed two more goals so they gave up thinking it was impossible. You have to wonder if they had only needed one more maybe they would have gone for it.

I understand the Serb's frustrations but to be fair to Australia plenty of other small teams would have done the exact same thing.

I really doubt that TBH.

Serbia were in the ropes.

You know very little about the game, Andries. If you did, you'd understand that Australia did try to score, because they almost did. You know nothing about tactics as well.

who cares about the topic, these guys get so passionate! love it! :p sorry guys
I'm disappointed how Andy played it today though. He had the advantage and all the conditions to piss Seven and in the end it was the other way around.

 to Andy for allowing Seven to switch the subject from USA's qualification to something else.

Tomorrow Italy plays so I hope one of them will use the advantage the result on that match will give to him :D

And that's the wrong thinking, wrong mentality to put it simply. You push until you have even the slightest chance of advancing, and should not satisfy for the win, that is purely pro forme.

That's the thing Seven and Alen are trying to say, i believe

I think us qualifying and Belgium, his real country, didn't, and will probably cease to exist, is pissing him off enough.

Andy to make up for it tomorrow with the azzurri game, he brings in a lot of experience and will have the support of a lot of other azzurri haters :D
