Buffon No1
Italy did receive some recognition, however, as Gianluigi Buffon claimed the Lev Yashin award for the tournament's outstanding goalkeeper, succeeding Germany's Oliver Kahn who also took the Golden Ball in 2002. Germany striker Miroslav Klose landed the Golden Shoe for finishing as the five-goal leading scorer at the finals, replicating his tally from 2002 in Korea/Japan. Brazil and Spain were the joint-winners of the FIFA Fair Play Award.

Good question,Ed.
In my opinion he can play everywhere in the mid line,if he doesn't punch anyone of course.:D

But I think that it could look like this:

------------Trez----------
-------Zidane--Henry----
Makelele--Vieira--Ribery

or both Trez and henry as the strikers.
I agree. Trez have to play.
My formation is:

--------------Trez------------
-----Henry-------------------
------------Zidane-----------
----------------------Ribery-
-----Makelele---Vieira------

There is a balance in both flank. Henry will little bit play in the left while Ribery has the right side.

ofcorse he had everything to do with it, it completly changed the mentality of the french!
trezi would've shot the penalty whether zidane was there or not, thats wat domench said.zz would've got the first penalty which was scored so it doesnt matter.

and even the red card, the french still had the upper hand so there was no difference.

And henry was subbed cuz he was injured

Time to give some consolation words for France

France, congradulations on being the runners-up of this tournament, you guys have given the world a whole new different look on the national team. Everybody, including the existing players of 1998 and those new players who fought hard for France. Barthez, I know that people mock at you, but you can retire at a high despite a shaky performance. You did your best in the penalty shootout. Thuram, you have proved yourself that you still have what it takes as a defender. Vieira, despite your poor form in your 1st season in Juventus, you still did your country proud in making crucial tackles.

and last of all Zidane

I understand what you did was impulsive, but it pays a heavy price. Now the whole world will be mocking you and what you did in those 20 seconds will make one remember it for a lifetime. Your actions have disgraced yourself and your status, not only as a football legend, but also a captain, with zero tolerance on such issues. And you make France sad. What a tragic way to end your career.

But You definitely belong to one of the greatest legends in football, thank you for providing endless entertainment to football fans all around the world. Thank you for your contributions in football. Thank you for bringing such beautiful and silky technique to football which youngsters are so willing to learn. And France will thank you for your contributions that promote French football with your skills, technique and leadership.

What formations are these? In case you have not heard Zidane has retired. so i am not what the formation is all about as has Makelele. The 1 thing that is bothering me and has for sometime after the win is that i have not seen any pictures of Italian players consoling their French counterpart . That will be massively disappointing if it did not happen. As when France won the Europena championship there were many pics of Henry and co consoling Dp and things like that.

yeah that was disappointing for me too, but i found one picture of guess who consoling thuram.

and i didnt understand those formations, i think that domench should forget abt the 451, and it will be interesting to see how domench rebuilds the squad without the veterns raising his stock

I am beginning to think that Dp is not human. Its almost impossible to be human and have that amount of class. No wonder almost everybody who has played with him loves him as a person

Ehm, I dont believe Im the only one in the world that won't be mocking him...

My attitude towards the matter will be decided when better clarification is made about what is said. Zidane is no angel, thats for certain, even the grin on his face shows how arrogant he is, but on the other hand, he is not that stupid IMO, to lash out like that infront of millions of viewers in the WC Finals in his final match, when France are dictating the match without some serious verbal offense.

The first time I saw the head butt, I was happy coz he would be red carded, but after the second replay it became obvious that Matrix didn't physically do anything at all to Zidane(which was my first assumption), then it hit me that Matrix must have said something awfully racists. And that made me feel sad, mixed with happiness that Italy would surely win it then.

I think we were discussing about a French formation in WC 2006. We knew Zidane has retired.

And Del Piero will not make you disappoint.

I know I may have exagerrated a bit, but every where I see, there are at least 10to 20 idiots that will say Zidane is sh!t or whatsoever. Those ignorant people who only watch the WC and not follow football will say that Zidane is stupid.

I do believe that both players are at fault, but what Matrix said does leave something to be desired. Or else Zidane wouldn't have reacted like that. Both players should be banned, not because of Zidane as a football legend, but when you something that is so atrocious, you deserve the ban.

What Matrix said is only half true, Zidane did look at him from top to bottm and exhanged a few words, but now I'm waiting for what Zidane has to say which will be at France's evening time.
