and now this:

Cannavaro porta la Coppa da Pessotto
11 07 2006
Fabio Cannavaro
Fabio Cannavaro Grazia Neri

What an idiotic thing to do...changing Henry with Trezeguet...both needed to start together with 4-4-2 and remove that Makalele and play with Vieira as the only Defense Midfielder.

that Makelele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Claude Makelele is a great player & he helped france a lot in the world cup & he was one of the best players in the french squad & he is essential in the first 11 formation! By the way I am with playing with 2 strikers trezy & henry but it should have came on the expense of one of the wingers malouda or Ribery & change a little the formation! Makelele was always untouchable in france,in Madrid,i& now in Chelsea,He is the kind of player that the coach put him & then put the other 9 players around him!

Yes but with his pace and ability now, it would be better to put him in every game as a sub if France are winning by a goal or two. It seems like a wiser decision cause Diarra doesn't have what it takes to be world class player right now.

Ed,I think that Makelele was a must for a French team alongside Vieira.

Zidane,Makelele,Vieira and Ribery should play with Trez and Henry in the attack.
Makelele really destroyed us in the midfield.

But the only team, from the semis, that played with 2 classic strikers in the attack is Germany, for all this time they have Klinsmann as their coach they are playing an attacking football and in that period they didn't manage to score against their opponent only 3 times, one was against us in the semi-final.

Hmm, I guess so Gio. But where would Zidane play if Trezeguet would be on the field. He would have to play on the far left section.

Good question,Ed.
In my opinion he can play everywhere in the mid line,if he doesn't punch anyone of course.:D

But I think that it could look like this:

------------Trez----------
-------Zidane--Henry----
Makelele--Vieira--Ribery

or both Trez and henry as the strikers.

4-4-2 wouldnt work, and recenetly trez-henry duo didnt work either.

makelele though is a starter not a subs. his one of key players in the midfield, his hard work what we dont see, gives more room for zidane and vieira.

like in chelsea, lampard wouldnt have as much freedom if makelele wouldnt cover his back.

True, but we are talking about more attacking French formation...Henry should take a role in that formation,so as Trez.

Yea but then Ribery has to be pushed to the wide. I like Henry in the position, he seems to be failing nowadays when he plays in his natural wide left position. :disagree:

Yeaa true. But that's Chelsea, there all amazing and experienced yet in France, half the squad is young and with the likes of Ribery playing in his first World Cup, still Inexperienced. That's why it would be good to have an attacking football muster because Trezeguet and Henry are good enough as forwards and they know how to handle the game, same goes for Vieira as he could have backed Zidane from the back. Thuram has passed his prime, Sagnol is really good, Givet is getting there and Gallas IMO can defend but lacks crossing. Who knows, they could have been lucky if there were attacking and defending with one defensive midfielder.
