Watch out for next big thing, Lionel Messi, pre his emergence, i didnt think Argentina will win it but with him, if fit then watch him go. i am not too sure about them at the back and they never seem to have a good goal keeper

..

Argentina's problem is not just the goalkeeper..they also dont have any proper strikers apart from Crespo, the rest are very average. What the hell happened to Saviola? I dont see them winning the tournement at all.

Anybody could progress from this group, it just depends on who has the best form during the run up to the tournament. The Cote D'Ivoire could steal points from any nation, and they could easily find themselves in the next round. This group is simply a toss up.

Saviola? He was abandoned by Barcelona and is now a wreck playing for a lower-class team called Sevilla. Another career ruined by mismanagement.

agreeing with andy there, its all going to down to form in this group. However one paper it looks like argentina at the moment.

abt their strikers.... dont they have tevez with crespo, i dont tthink they will have any problems finding talent as they have soo much in their homeland. Its all abt their own discipline and management as a team.As those were big problems last time.

abt saviola..i think rijjkard just wanted to rejuvenate the squad after he came, that was why he didnt want either saviola or riquelme back.even cocu who would've helped a lot imo

I have to be honest here, every time i have seen Tevez and admittedly its not a lot, he has not impressed me at all. How good is he really as he seems to get a lot of props. As for Saviola , i am not a fan of his, he is decent to me but no more than that. I hear Argentina are not taking Zanetti, Samuel or Veron to wc. I am not sure about Veron but surely the other 2 should be in the starting line up let alone squad

am the complete opposite, i haven't seen young tevez play but he just convinced me when he played that he will be a great player. I think the last time i saw him play was back when he was 18 or something.
It will be very interesting seeing him playing after his success with Corinthians.

Ur right no zanetti, samuel or veron. Looks like Inter r keeping their reputation for " the cemetary of the stars". But cambiasso earnt it as well as Cruz.
If Peckerman got the right combination and all the players r fit then the argentians will get the 9 points.

The dutch look good too, i think they will get 2nd but they should be alarmed of the cote d vior

Its unthinkable IMO that Zanetti will not be going to the WC. He surely deserves to be in the team after his contributions over the years, and its not as if they have a fantastic replacement.

i think its just a shame that javier is not taken to the world cup.To me he was and still is one of the best RBs in the world.A hard worker who would always give 100%. But this is not good enough for peckermann.

Argentina could struggle cuz not al their players r 100%

Holland trio injured in friendly

Holland sustained three injuries during their 1-1 friendly with Australia on Sunday with Wesley Sneijder's ankle knock considered to be most serious.

Philip Cocu (thigh) and Giovanni van Bronckhorst (ankle) also picked up injuries in a bad tempered game.

Australia's Luke Wilkshire was sent off for his challenge on Van Bronckhorst which left the Dutchman nursing heavy bruising to his foot.

"I do not think he wanted to go for the ball," Van Bronckhorst said.

"Luckily for me, the injury is not too bad but if it had have been, I would have missed the World Cup and, in a game like this, I don't think it would have been worth it.

"We knew Australia were a physical team. It is one of their strengths. But I just felt some of their challenges were too hard. After all, we are only one week away from a World Cup."

But while Van Bronckhorst is confident he will shake off his knock in time for the start of the World Cup, there is a doubt surrounding Sneijder's chances.

Dutch coach Marco van Basten said: "Sneijder is limping and his ankle is strapped up.

"We'll have to wait 24 hours to find out how serious it is. We have to wait and see how it develops."

Australians were very rough in the friendly against holland, i dont know why they do that? Mybe cause most sports here r contact sports :D

anyway abt holland sorry Erik but they didnt convince me at all, two games now against Mexico and the Aussies. The defense is weak and i dont know why Van Basten didnt think of putting Cocu there earlier. And now he cant.
I dont see wat i always seen in holland team which the short passing game, it seems they always run out of options. Mybe VDV could have a different impact on their games in the WC if he plays.

People need to stop comparing the current Dutch team to the team of 98, which nobody seems to be capable of moving past. There's a reason why we didn't qualify for the previous World Cup, you know.

And we used our reserves against Mexico, that game shouldn't be used as evidence for anything.

i loved the 98 team, but its not comparing this team with that one...the team looked out of sorts. The aussies dont have the best defence and still only one goal ?

vdv will have a big part to play imo.

and van bommel just proved he is just a load of crap

Van der Vaart is injured. Look, we're not going to get much better, we're not going to find our schwung this time. This is it. We're just not good anymore. Forget the name of the country, the colour of the shirt and any associations you might have with that.

Maybe next World Cup, although I doubt it.

Our games against the Czechs were draped in luck. The rest of the teams in the qualification group (as ever) were utter shite. F Macedonia...

What are you talking about? How did he prove that exactly? Van Bommel is an excellent midfielder, very usefull in a 3-man midfield, due to his ability to play both offensively and defensively well.
