Not really one of the best ever. The lead actor is great though and so is the woman who plays Lagertha. It's a good watch, but it somehow lacks depth IMO.
Yeah its good, not great, but doesnt need to be more IMO, gives us an entertaining slice of Viking story, Ragnar and Lagertha are badass, and its nice seeing this time period in tv series (seeing depiction of my city from 1000 years ago I gone by Viking hill thombs on the way to school/work every day), especially from that angle, seeing the english raided instead of just seeing a tv series of their petty upstart kingdoms.
If any of you like the subject matter enough, I highly recommend you read a comics series called Northlanders, incredibly well done, writing and art, very visceral tales.
"A creaking bow, a burning flame, tide on the ebb, new ice, a coiled snake.
The sons of a king, an ailing calf, a witch's flattery.
No man should be such a fool as to trust these things.
No man should trust the word of a woman.
The hearts of women were turned on a whirling wheel.
To love a fickle woman is like setting out over ice with a two-year-old colt.
Or sailing a ship without a rudder."
