Segundo Víctor Ibarbo Guerrero (born 19 May 1990) is a Colombian footballer who plays as a second striker for Italian Serie A club Cagliari.
Club career
Being the youngest player for Atlético Nacional, he made his pro debut against Envigado on 20 February 2008. He is most known for his ability to run the 100 meter dash in times of 10-10.5 seconds. Many sportscasters from Colombia say that he is somebody to watch for the future, since he is only 22 years old and a player with high potential for the future. He has been compared by many to Colombian great Freddy Rincón for his size, speed, ball control and strength and has already been scouted by Arsenal, Tottenham and Real Madrid for around £8 million.
Playing style
Ibarbo often plays as an attacking wide player, using his pace to get to the byline and either cross the ball or cut inside to shoot. His endless running and endeavour has seen him likened to a dog in some parts of the Italian press.
His first goal for Cagliari was an example of things to come. On the trip to Catania on 4 December 2011, Ibarbo received the ball on the byline near the edge of the penalty box, and uses his strength and power to cut inside past two defenders before dribbling the ball around the goalkeeper into an empty net, Ibarbo is well known for his pace and strength.
Ibarbo scored a wonderful solo effort for Cagliari during a league game against Juventus on 11 May 2013. The striker collected the ball on the edge of his own box, then turned on the turbo to burst between Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Barzagli before moving inside the box and squeezing the ball under goalkeeper Marco Storari.[1]
