In "Real life" betting, the amount you put on a winning bet you also receive back. Why doesn't it happen here?

For example. I place 10 on a 3/1 bet and win. In total I receive 40.

Thought I'd ask.

I have had that discussion with badass before, impossible to change it into that.
But if i remember correctly, if i put a bet on that thing it would be logic if you get 3euro for ever 1 euro you bet so 30 in total. at which site are you betting?

that you get the money you bet, I have never seen that before.
if you bet 1 euro on the odds 1/3
you get 4 of 3 euro?
shouldn't be the odds then 1/4
1/3 odds work as for every 3euro you place you get 1euro back as well as your 3euro placed obviously as what'll be the point in placing the bet. It's suppose to be a certain win bet with odds like that but anything can happen in sporting events. Obviously worse if you lose. How people get into debt easier but thought they'd get easy quick cash.

Now 3/1 odds is the same. You place a 1euro bet and win 3euro and get your 1euro back too so you have 4euro.

My point being you get your money back. Sorry haven't got time at the mo to explain all as I'm going out.
