what press conference ?
Ranieri demands Scudetto push
Saturday 5 January, 2008

Claudio Ranieri insists Juventus must aim for the Scudetto, but tension is showing as he stormed out of today’s Press conference.

“In 2007 this team won the Serie B Championship. We want to do the same in 2008 with the Serie A title,” commented the Coach.

“Juve are doing well, nobody can deny that, but we have to do even better and give 100 per cent. We must improve our average points tally if we want to target something more important.

“Our objective has not changed – to be the best and bridge the gap from the other sides.”

The Bianconeri were expected to struggle after Calciopoli, but they went into the Christmas break in third place, eight points adrift of Inter.

“We have very clear room for improvement. There are players I haven’t had much chance to work with, like Mauro Camoranesi and Marco Marchionni. I expect more from everyone. We have made giant steps forward, but still need to improve in defence. When I see Gigi Buffon disappear from a match, I’ll say we are doing well.”

In a bid to revitalise the squad over this winter break, Ranieri is taking Juventus to Malta for a mid-season training camp.

“I expect a warm welcome from the fans that can further help to compact the team. We need to be ready to roll immediately as soon as the season kicks off again.”

However, Ranieri showed some tension towards the media as he walked out of the Press conference when asked about the future of Sergio Almiron.

The Argentine has been a flop since joining from Empoli in the summer and it is widely reported he will move on to Olympiacos later this month.

He was also asked for a comment on the rumours that Rafael Van Der Vaart has accepted an £11m switch to Turin.

“Van Der Vaart? Sure, why not add Kaka and Zlatan Ibrahimovic while we’re at it,” he joked before saluting the journalists and walking away.

the problem now is that he wants a 4 million plus contract and ofcourse that all other clubs are on the alert however I believe that anyone who wanted him all ready knew that he would be available, it's not like he is a free agent now
we want him and he wants us so go for it

Shorted version of the whole paragraph is they wanna cashing him as soon as possible :D

move quickly , Secco
You know that quickness is not one of Secco's characteristics...

or maybe Secco was not good enough at negotiating, and deal is gonna..maybe cos of that Ranieri was not so happy at press conference today...
You might be righ, and I really didn't liked the way Ranieri reacted and mentionig Kaka and Ibrahimovic. From his statement someone could conclude that we are poor team who even can't atract player like VDV.

thats nothing were paying boumsong over 2mil for what? at least VDV is a worldclass player
:agree:

I once heard on the most prestigious channel in Denmark that we officially re-signed Christian Vieri, when Barcelona declared interest in Trezeguet.

Then i once read on a "semi-reliable" danish site, that we also officially signed D'alessandro before he went to wolfsburg.

But i guess the fact that we had Moggi at that time, and the whole Christian Vieri signing was a smokescreen... Because unlike Secco, Moggi was good at that stuff.

I'm not saying we haven't signed VDV yet, and I'm definitely not saying i don't want him. I'm just saying, that Secco still has ALOT of improvement to do, and make us think we have signed players like Milito, Banega and VDV, just to see them slip, is more than frustrating.

I just hope, this time its for real. But I'm not getting my hopes high.

Dutch midfielder Van der Vaart ready for Hamburg exit

BERLIN (AFP) - - Hamburg's Dutch international Raphael van der Vaart revealed Saturday that he will not be renewing his contract with the German side and sees his future more at Italian club Juventus.

"I'm not signing, I'm not prolonging (my contract)," the Hamburg skipper told the daily Bild.

The club had proposed a contract extension for the 24-year-old until 2012 with an annual salary of four million euros.

But van der Vaart said: "My dream of playing in a very big club is great. And if I tie myself to Hamburg until 2012 it would be too long for me."

Concerning reports of a move to Juventus, he said: "There isn't an official offer. I've heard that Juve are interested and I can imagine myself playing there."

According to the German press, Juventus are ready to offer the Dutch midfielder a five-year contract worth 17 million euros.

Van der Vaart's contract with Hamburg runs until 2010.

The club rejected a 22-million-euro offer from Spanish side Valencia this summer.

The midfielder has kick-started his career at Hamburg after an unsuccessful spell at Ajax, scoring 26 goals in 59 Bundesliga matches.
