To think about the future is all nice and swell, but you have to think about the present as well.
sure thing! Giovinco is no starter yet, but if we bring him back and bring a world class player of his position then he will never play, always stay at the bench and will stop growing as a player, I say buy someone good of his position and rotate them together, I know one thing as VDV won't accept that offer, unless if both can play at the same time too, in different positions.

A lot of clubs have learned the hard way that you cant count on a player becoming world class just because he has potential. If Gio gets injured or just doesnt deliver, which wouldnt be the first time, we'd be screwed both for the present and future.

Realisticlly, he's at least 3 years from becoming a near world class player, and during that time VDV can do the job.

And besides, they can play together.

he doesn't have to be a world class player to play for Juve, we have many average players/starters in our team. Like I said we can't depend on Giovinco as our savior, we should have another player of his position so both can be rotated.

I also believe VDV and him can play together in different positions too, I am a big fan of VDV, I hope we get him too!

Exactly. I'm sure it can be worked out.
Why cant VDV play as a second striker while Giovinco plays behind them..kind of like DP and Zidane back in the days.

:howler:

I think our DMs will have their job cut out if we play VDV-Govinco like what we used to with Del Piero-Zidane.

Back then we have Deschamps, Davids and Conte to do the dirty work in midfield and we know the latter 2 are extremely combative & competitive

Plus, its Del Piero-Zidane we are trying to replicate here .. definitely not easy but does not meant its not worth a try provided we do land VDV ...

That all sounds great in theory but...I don't know..It's not like VDV is 30 and we'll get him untill Giovinco matures, he's young as well with a long (possible) future at the club.

Lets play pretend here and say in the beginning rotation would be a rational and effective solution. What after a year, or two, when Giovinco becomes a world class AMC, on par with VDV? Then what the heck will we do? You can't rotate two class players, neither will accept that. The team is shaped around that type of player, you can't rotate that position. The best bet is to make them learn to play together, while Giovinco is so young it could be a possibility.

All in all I really want VDV but not at the expense of Giovinco.
Well then it will be up to the coach at that time to make the decision. Either develop a system which could include both players or otherwise one of them will have to leave.

Also don't forget to consider that Alex won't be there for a while and one of them could be converted to that forward position. As the jury is still out in regards to Palladino.

It'd be a hell of a lot easier if this was FM, there Giovinco could easily cover for DP's, Nedved's and VDV's replacement. :D
