While I am in here, does anyone know if getting your doctorate definitely requires doing a thesis? I had to do one for my degree but I managed to find a Masters that was strictly exams so was just wondering.

In what field? I am pretty sure that for the most part they all require the thesis, as that is the point. At the MA level you can often have teachers or people in other professions who want the qualification and knowledge without having to write, and without the intent to move on to PhD.

Thanks. I knew it was a long shot but I thought I'd ask anyway. They're just so long and boring and drawn out but as boring as it is, that part I can do. I am a little nervous about having to present to a board when I am done. I am in fact actually dreading it.
