I think it's about appealing to locals, but with the real goal being creating real estate and favour with developers. It's not as if London has building work everywhere, every day of the week...You can't turn a corner without some kind of construction work or redevelopment.

i've heard different point of view from russian businessman from london - Evgeniy Chichvarkin, the owner of best wine store in the world that based in London, sorry but he is completely right if everything that he said is truth - Khan is socialist, he basically promised to londoners cheaper households and cheaper rents, here is the list what Khan promised according to chichvarkin: Limitation of real estate investment from abroad, more african and asian cops, freeze rates on transport with subsidies from the budget, The first two areas without pollution, don't hold spontaneous inspections on the streets by the police, pedestrianized oxford street (it will ruin the business that earns billions of pounds on this street + business rate one of the biggest in london on this street, tax on the rent there is around 25-50% and it go straight to the treasury of Westminster)

Well, according to his manifesto all that londoners are cares about its the rent prices, transport fares, the pollution, he is not businessman, you can't force me to set the price on the rent on my apartment because we are living in the capitalism, it's market economy, bitch, but socialists will never understand it, he wants to force investors to build affordable housing instead of rich apartments, good luck with it, mate

i'm not a minor, i don't struggle and i still think rent prices, transport fares and pollution are important topics. and since *surprise* the majority is NOT rich, it is very important to have enough affordable apartments, which is a big problem in London and other big cities.

Migrate away, find a city which you can afford to live in, americans migrate from city to city on the daily basis when they can't afford to live in this or in that city, instead of voting for socialistic utopians. As for german rent regulation - it's pretty stupid, what if inflation will be around 10-12% per year in Germany? Then what? Life became more expensive, the gas prices became more expensive and yet i can't raise rent in my building to cover my losses?! And then in the end of the day i will have to loan money in the bank to cover my losses, then i will be unable to pay it back and bank will take away my house, seems legit
Ye let's force investors to build cheap neighborhoods for poors with no workplaces to improve criminal rates in these areas and landlords to reduce the prices because fuck capitalism, i understood your point, socialism forever
