Israel is doing very good so far. As good as Italy, France or Germans..
They had 2 teams eliminated while still have 2, one of those 2 (Maccabi) will for sure get eliminated from the CL and wont have 3rd position that qualifies for Europa League.

They are still better than....i'll randomly choose four countries.... Turkey, Albania, Azerbaijan and Bosnia.

In this round of Europe, Italy as the best country had 5 wins ( Fio,Juve,Inter,Rome,Genoa) with 1 Draw ( Milan) and 1 loss ( Lazio)

Germany finished the round with 3 wins ( Hertha,Bremen, wolsfburg) and 2 draws( Humburger,Stutgart) also one loss (bayern)

    England had 1 win (arsenal), 3 draws ( Manchester,Chelsea,Liverpool) and 2 losses ( Everton,Fulham)

Spain had 1 win (villareal) with 6 draws! ( Barca,Real,Sevilla,Billbao,Valencia)

For those who keep following italian clubs Coefficient points every week imagine this scenario (pretty likely to happen):

All 4 italian clubs playing in the CL progress to the next round, only to get knocked out in the First knockout round while both bayern munich and Stuttgart end up finnishing 3rd in their groups and keep playing the Europa league next to Hertha berlin and Hamburg (currently 2nd in their group with little competition from other teams) and bremen (currently 1st and 100% gonna make it to the next round).

While italian clubs in the Europa league are struglling currently. Lazio, roma and Genoa are all playing in tough groups and IMO atleast two of them will be knocked out from the current group stage (looking at their groups and the clubs they're fighting to secure the 2nd place with its pretty likely to happen).

So we end up with 5 german clubs still playing in europe collecting more Coefficient points while italy would be lucky to have 2 clubs in there for the later stages.

If you think about it for a sec, its not far from happening really.....

MEh, Im notg oing to wish Europa League on Juventus just to aid the coeffiecent
Definately not for Juve, but people cheering for clubs like :inter: , milan and fiorentina right now thinking that this would help Italy's chances in saving that 4th spot in CL is likely to be the opposite.

The CL is much tougher than Europa league so the chances that italian clubs progressing further in that competition is much lesser than German clubs progressing more in the Europa league.

To have one of europes giant like bayern munich, bremen (last year finalist), hamburg and stuttgart (pretty decent teams) all in Europa league means that there is a very high possibility that atleast one of those clubs would make it the final this year.

However, if 4 teams from Italy get to the knockouts, there is a very real chance that at least two will get to the next round, Real Madrid arent that great this year and there is only going to be 3 english teams in the knockout, we can get very favourable draws.

    And finally it happened....

    UEFA Coefficients, season 2009/2010

    1. Italy 8.285
    2. Spain 8.071
    3. England 7.928
    4. Germany 7.583
    5. France 7.500
    6. Austria 7.375
    7. Netherlands 6.583
    8. Israel 6.500
    9. Turkey 5.600
    10. Switzerland 5.500

What counts are the last 5 seasons though, and Italy is gaining more and more advantage over Germany, with England and Spain still having a great lead.

    Uefa coefficients (last 5 seasons)
    1. England 71.856
    2. Spain 69.900
    3. Italy 57.195
    4. Germany 53. 707
    5. France 46.240
    6. Russia 40.791
    7. Ukraine 38.950
    etc

The first three have 4 teams in CL, teams from 4-6 have 3 teams in CL, the rest have 2 teams or 1 teams.

The advantage Italy is gaining right now is not enough though. When season 05/06 is cleared (doesn't count any longer) Italy may very well find themselves in 4th place.
Back then Italy scored 15,357, while Germany only scored 10,437.

I know that's the reason, but still it was really really rapid.

I've got a curious question tho, when was the last time the Top 5 have changed? Has it always been Ita, Esp, Eng, Ger, and Fra?

I think Portugal was there 5-6 years ago.
