Holistically the sport still has a long way to go for greater adoption, fandom, viewership, etc.. If we want to boil it down to our domestic league then it needs to play to the American culture which is centered around the thrill of goals, back and forth, blowouts. Without using analogies I simply say that the game needs to be served on a platter prepared and dressed the way it's targeted consumer base will engage just like any other product or service.

I'm not an expert on the NHL because I stopped following it after I stopped playing as a kid but I do know that the NHL has made changes to the game (along with other areas of it's brand) to increase viewership, fans, etc. because it was bleeding $$ and losing fans. The league had to make those changes to make the game more appealing to stay alive. It's a simple marketing exercise really.

Was just a friendly but decent performance. The defense played very well and we looked pretty cohesive towards the end of the game. Nice goal too. Hopefully this is something to build off of.

Needless to say I missed the Nagbe goal in the 90'

Yeah, I'm not expecting much from this tournament. A midfield of Jones, Beckman and Bradley is less than inspiring. Hopefully they can get out of the group.
Of the younger players selected I only see Yedlin as having a lot of potential. I thought he was very good when he came on against us in 2014 and I thought he played a couple of good games for Sunderland this season. Might lack a bit of height to be a truly modern fullback, but has all the other qualities imo.

Wood is a guy to keep an eye on. He scored the most goals by an American in Germany this season (17) and a has scored some big international goals. Recently secured a transfer to HSV.

    2. Bundesliga though, right?

Nonetheless 17 goals in a season is not bad.

Yep. Plus he's scored game winners in Germany and The Netherlands at the international level.

Wonder how he'll do for Hamburg.

You think stuff like college sports and the MLS is hurting the development of your younger players?

Most definitely, especially when we have young guys turning down moves to Bremen to play in Seattle.

    Rossi 'should've chosen USA'
    By Football Italia staff

Giuseppe Rossi’s agent said he “should have chosen” to represent the USA rather than Italy after a complex career.

The Fiorentina striker was born in New Jersey, but moved to his father’s nation as a teenager to pursue a career in football.

“In hindsight, going back to when he chose between representing Italy or the USA, we should have chosen the USA,” agent Andrea Pastorello told Radio Bruno.

When still a Manchester United reserve, Rossi turned down a training camp call-up from US Coach Bruno Arena in 2006.

'Pepito’ has since played club football in England, Spain and Italy, but his career was wracked by injury problems.

He eventually managed only 29 senior caps for Italy, scoring seven goals.

Rossi spent the last six months on loan at Levante, as he was not playing regularly for Fiorentina.
