Still don't think it will be a good season. The defense is weak as hell. At least they've brought in Charlie, I suppose.

Yeah, the coverage part's true. But the season being different from Europe kinda throws me off...I'll just man up and watch all the Union games at least.

Most of the DC United games are shown locally, but the bigger matches tend to get overshadowed by MLB and other summer events.

Good weekend for our boys abroad. Captain Dolomite's Hannover is now in third place of the Bundesliga. But Bradley didn't get any time, unfortunately.

Sonny Guadarrama worked the final 37 minutes of Atlante's 2-1 loss at Morelia.

However, Jonathan Bornstein was an unused sub in Tigres' 3-0 victory over Puebla.

The other American goal scorer on the weekend was Ingostadt forward Edson Buddle, who nodded home the visitors' capper in a 4-1 2.Bundesliga win at Luis Robles' Karlsruher.

Up in the top flight, Steve Cherundolo captained Hannover 96 up to third place with a smash 'n' grab 1-0 win at St. Pauli.

Timothy Chandler went the full route as FC Nuremberg ran their unbeaten streak to six games with a 1-1 draw at Schalke.

Back in the second Bundesliga, David Yelldell continued his road dominance in a 0-0 derby stalemate at Oberhausen.

Bobby Wood came on for 19 minutes, helping 1860 Munich score a 1-0 victory at Union Berlin.

Over in Scotland, Maurice Edu and Rangers picked up three points on arch rivals Celtic with a 4-0 cruise past St. Johnstone.

Next door in England, Brad Friedel snapped a three-game EPL losing streak to former employers Blackburn in a 4-1 home rout.

The former U.S. star needed only one save on Rovers midfielder Jermaine Jones to enjoy the win, but Villa teammate Michael Bradley dressed but did not feature.

Tim Howard notched the shutout in Everton's 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Fulham ace Clint Dempsey put in a solid shift as the warming visitors rallied for a 1-all share at Mancheter City.

Stuart Holden offered plenty of work rate, as usual, in Bolton's 1-1 draw at Newcastle.

West Ham United handyman Jonathan Spector worked eight mop-up minutes in a 3-1 defeat of Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Marcus Hahnemann served as back-up for Wolverhampton's 4-0 rout of Blackpool.

In the Championship, a 2-0 win at Barnsley has Zak Whitbread and Norwich City up to fifth.

Brad Guzan's efforts in goal went for naught in Hull City's 2-0 home loss to Cardiff.

Fellow Aston Villa loan item Eric Lichaj went all 90 in a 3-0 Leeds United defeat at Swansea.

Eddie Johnson put in 21 strong minutes to no avail as Preston North End fell to 2-1 to guests Burnley.
