Yeah im sure that matters really much to the most of you, who gets tired of our players all the time, one bad season and its straight out with them :D
Do you only look at what is right in front of you, or do you actually care about the team's future as well?

Sure, lets go into next season with a 33 year old thuran, a 34 year old Montero, a 34 year old Iuliano, and a 38 year old Ferrara. That would be perfect.

Mexes, Ferrari, and Squillaci are all extremely promising defenders with immense potential so it doesn't really matter who we get out of the three, just as long as two of them join.

if we could get mexes, evra and either ferrari or squillaci, van der vaart and gilardino it would be great...we could put put evra as a left defender and put zambro as a left midfielder...

    Code:
                  Buffon
    Thuram Mexes Ferrari/Squillaci Evra

Maresca Nedved Van der Vaart Zambro

                 Del Piero Gilardino

wish that this formation could be possible.

If we get Evra I would play a 3-4-1-2, similar to what Roma played earlier on this season.

    Buffon

    Thuram - Mexes - Ferrari

    Zambrotta - Tacchinardi - Maresca - Evra

    Nedved

    Gilardino - Del Piero

Zambrotta and Evra would run up and down the flanks like Mancini and Lima do (or did) for Roma, meaning that we would have five at the back when necessary. Tacchinardi would win the balls back in the middle of the pitch and Maresca would do most of the distributing.

With Evra we could play like that!

    -------------------Buffon--------------------
    Thuram---Legrottaglie----Mexes---Evra--
    ----------Tacchinardi---Maresca---------
    -----Zambrotta---Nedved---Del Piero-----
    -----------------Gilardino-----------------

Imo a Thuram - Mexes - Ferrari back three would be just as good if not better than one consisting of Panucci, Samuel and Chivu, while Zambrotta does basically the same thing that Mancini does, just a bit less technical, but that's where Evra comes in. If you've watched him which I'm sure you have, you know that he's a quality player, capable of putting in good defensive shifts and overlapping to glorious effects. Tacchinardi doesn't pass as well as Emerson, but Maresca makes up for that. Totti is more creative and gifted that Nedved, but he won't run like a man with twenty lungs, and what Neddy doesn't have in technical ability and creativity is balanced out by the fact that Cassano's partner, whether it be Carew, Delvecchio or Montella, can't touch DP when it comes to technical stuff. Gilardino is also a better finisher than any of the above mentioned forwards. I don't see why it would go wrong.

Don't forget guys that Mexès and Ferrari play in the same position. Neither of them can play Left Center back. They could play in a 3 man defense but we would still need a guy on the left.

There's not that much of a difference between RCB and LCB, just like how there's not much of a difference between RCM and LCM. I understand where you're coming from, but only minor adjustments would have to be made. No biggie imo.

But doesn't Ferrari play at LCB at Parma?
I think he normally plays RCB, but as far as I remember he played LCB against us. It was Bonera - Cannavaro - Ferrari - Castellini

I think he played RCB against us and that Bonera started on LB and he sucked and Prandelli brought him back at RB.

I strongly believe that a player that played RCB all his life can't be as good at LCB. You need a lot of time to adjust. (Different marks, turns and most of all you need to be good with your left foot but that's just me.) :D

We might not get both Mexes and Ferrari, but if we get Evra, even if we just get say, Trabelsi and Ferrari we'll be much much much better off than we are now

    Trabelsi -- Thuram -- Ferrari -- Evra

    would work fine IMO

    buffon
    trabelsi mexes ferrari evra
    zambrotta maresca kapo
    van der vaart
    zlatan/gilardino/cavenaghi dp/micc

i think that team could work well also, even if though many will say that maresca cant play that role.

Agree! To say that there is a huge difference, is really funny!

Oh, I didn't forget them. One of them is always injured and the other one is a joke. And neither one whould be worthy of wearing a first team shirt on defence.
