The cold weather was kept out of the stadium by the passionate fans and the battling spirit of the players on the field, who showed both great skill and desire. Nedved cancelled out Inzaghi’s opener
for the Bianconeri while Del Piero gave Deschamps’ men the lead mid-way through the second the half. Seedorf drew the Rossoneri level seconds later, and Aubameyang secured the trophy for Milan with his winning goal in the dying minutes (3-2).
Nedved and Inzaghi went at it early on, with the Milanista’s effort tipped over by Buffon. Juventus equalised with five minutes to go in the first half; Nedved was first to the ball after Kalac failed to deal with a fierce effort from Trezeguet, and he kept his cool, netting with a superb right-footed finish (1-1). It was an ill-fated first half for Juventus, who lost both of their central defenders (Boumsong and Chiellini) through injury. The pair were replaced by Zebina and Kovac.
The second half was as intense as the first, Fiori (a half-time replacement for Kalac) saving from Del Piero 8 minutes in, and Buffon following suit a minute later from a Seedorf free-kick. Del Piero put through Zalayeta (on for Trezeguet at the break) on 60 minutes, but Maldini was there to sniff out the danger. Fiori denied the Uruguayan from a corner while Inzaghi blazed one over at the other end. Juventus also lost Palladino through injury, replaced by Bojinov. Del Piero then gave the Bianconeri the lead in the 67th minute, heading home a free-kick in wonderful style (2-1). The advantage lasted little more than a minute, Seedorf heading in another Brocchi cross to make it (2-2). Both sides pushed forward looking for the winning goal, and it was the substitute Aubameyang who grabbed it, heading past the newly-arrived Mirante in the 86th minute to seal the trophy for Milan (3-2).

Raffaelle's was a sprained ankle & not thought to be serious. However, the extent of Giorgio's & Boum's injuries were not so easily diagnosed. We'll have to wait until Monday to find out!
