About the stats: current as of today, 22.11.05. The Serie A numbers I'm pretty sure are correct, the other club stats (in Bati's case) are a bit more sketchy.

Batistuta was a better player than trez, as far as technique and ball control go. batigol was also more physical than Trez.

On a side note, a good friend of mine is a neighbor of his maryland.

Those averages can be misleading. It says goals/game and not goals/minute. Batigoal got subbed a lot more then Trezeguet.

batigol was a phenomenon and the reason i got hooked on calcio, trez is the best finisher i have seen since batigol,he lurks in the box and does not contribute to overall play,but give him just a whiff of goal at your peril. is not really fair on anyone to be compared to batigol but trez is the next best i have seen as an out and out finisher

overall batistuta was a better player. that said, i don't think any striker is like trez, he's really unique. i haven't seen anyone like him, closest would be probably makaay, but then again he has these slips of form every season, whereas trez doesn't, if he's healthy he'll score. and trez's main attribute is that he shoots with both feet, and has terrific heading, i can't remember a player that had all of that, and he also has that be at the right place at the right time instinct. he's really one of a kind, unique.

The key factor will be injuries. If Trezeguet manages to steer clear of them he has a chance of possibly equalling Batistuta.
