You mean that you are quite happy to have given Parma £58m or thereabouts for 2 players and still lose to them in the coppia final and as for the scudetto, its nice but since we were kind of gifted it to us, it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth

I am not saying Buffon is not a good keeper , he is and he is my favourite keeper in the world but come on it is still £33m and that is a lot of money when you consider that Peruzzi is still a puzzle to me why he left and we could have had both Peruzzi and Carini since Peruzzi misses a lot of games and we could have used that money for creative players


We seemed to have bought Fresi as a defender so that Tudor can play in the midfield, why, I will never know as Tudor is a defender and is not allowed to grow as a central defender as he keeps being played in a position alien to him and he does not like

I will give you an example, in the Newcastle game almost every so called English expert before the game expected Newcastle to win and guess what to my embarassment, we did lose

Not so long ago we went to Man United and beat them quite convincingly 1-0 , went to Kiev and silenced 100,000 supporters by winning 4-1 and now we are losing at home to Hamburg, losing to Celtic and despite dominating Rosenborg , still drawing 1-1

Go to Juve vs Feyernoord thread and you get fans rightly apprehensive that we might not qualify from FIRST ROUND of Cl against not so powerhouses as Newcastle, Feyernoord and kiev
This is how backwards we have come but if you are happy with being handed titles and wanting to play teams who are either not in form or have their best players missing thats up to you

Me i want my team to beat the best by playing great football admittedly not always but against the really big teams and not put all the burden on Ale alone

i don't like it either,denco.and i DO think juve ought to perform better.but its not that they can't.it's just that they don't do well often enough.often we play like a truly great team,but we are also almost always let down by the odd lacklustre performance.

consistency is a big problem but it dosen't mean we actually suck.
lokk at last season's CL.in the second group stage we performed pretty well at the start,getting of to a flying start against bayer.in the arsenal game at highbury juve were largely disappointing and till the last game it was pretty shaky. but we did win against arsenal in the SDA,and it wasn't till last week that arsenal were beaten again.

another thing about being a big club is that opposing clubs tend to raise their game against you.against juve i have noticed that the opponents play better and though i have only started taking notice of this last year i think i can't be far off track.

luck plays a part too.look at the group we had then, depor,bayer,arsenal and us. true we were the favourites but surely not by far in such a tight group.i remember when three games passed every team had won,drawn and lost once on 4 points.dp couldn't convert a penalty in the bayer match and luck played a part there too.

and if we didn't have such a tough group i can say we would have gone on to at least the semis.so all in all i'm not trying to say that juve are good or that their occasional lousy performances are fully justified,it's just that there's a lot more involved than just the team in our case,if things were a little different who knows what would have happened.

i wouldn't consider the arsenal game a good win!!!!

remember who played in that game? there was two reserve players on the field!! that team wasn't JUVE it was a shadow of JUVE! even the goal keeper was Carini and not buffon!!!
now i don't want to say that it wasn't a good win, i just want to say that i belive if the regular juve squad played the game things would of have been different, considering the fact that the "Shadow team that played the game" had alot to prove and nothing to loose thats why they played a game higher than their potential!!!

Juve were eliminated from the CL second group phase with one game to go!!! we won the last game and still finished at the buttom of the group!! now i am personally not satisfied with that performance as juve of the mid 90's would of have gone all the way. we shouldn't think that this was a tough group! our opponents in the group should be afraid coz they are with us in the group!!! its just sad where we were and where we are right now!!!! i am sure that in the future things will improve and juve will prove once again that they are a great team!!! every team passes through sometime where they don't have a touch. even real madrid in the early 90's passed through such a stage in their performance!!!!

for me it dosent leave a bitter taste in the mouth.we won it against our biggest rival in Italy in that dramatic end so for me it is really sweet scudetto!

that postion is not strange to Tudor becuse he played there in Croatia-U21 and in Hajduk.

I think it's a little late to talk about transfers now. Transfer policy wasn't top notch? Fair enough. But it's too late to change now. Certain prospects could have made a difference but we'll never know. And it's generally true that for every defeat people will look to the transfer market in despair.

it seems the juve board is already regretting not having spent more in the transfer market,only a quarter of the season is past and already they are having targets for the january transfer window.

Its not a question of how much they have spent..we have spent more than enough..salas, buffon, thuram, nedved, divaio

but we have overspent on these players, instead of looking for younger less expensive, but in the long run, much better value purchases

Generally it's difficult to speak of Juve 'having targets for the January transfer window' as the only indication of future purchases this season to my knowledge was Moggi saying in a calciomanager.it interview that Juve was surely looking for a top notch defener for next season, while indicating that especially the French market for young and talented players would be looked into. Other than that he and other Juve representatives admit to be tracking a number of players in general, but no statements have been given to the effect that Juve is actively pursuing anyone and certainly no names are given. What we see now is the ever imaginative Italian press, and in the end one or two of it's gazillion rumours might pan out in January (my bet is on Demichelis from River joining or maybe even Mexes if Auxerre don't look good for the championat or are still in the UEFA cup).

Buffon: Yes- that was a dramatic sum of money. One should remember that we do recuperate some of it simply because he's high profile and we have the marketing rights on him. Other than that I just think he's the best thre is, and that we can have the Italy NT keeper for a decade without worrying about that position at all which brings the sidebenefit of not having to give a keeper time to adjust like we did Van der Sar. Peruzzi left because he was rightly mad that Juve did not leave him enough time to get his back in order, and his carrier has suffered from that ever since.

Di Vaio: Didn't get that one either, but with the possibility of Trez being out for 6 months... we were in a bit of a jam.

Let's remember that from the new signings this season we also got Camoranesi who in my opinion is so far the purchase of the season in serieA (well- he's on half share only but still). Miccoli- even if he hasn't scored, is still one of the best performing forwards in serie A- even at a troubled club, and generally Juve keeps hold of the talented players within the 'societa'.

Many speak of a desire to see more creative players... I share that desire, but with a coach who doesn't want it what would it accomplish? We would become a neo-Inter where Moratti simply cannot sit on his hands more than a season tops. He is again starting to crave for collectors items his coach does not want or need in his system, and I bet Inter will get problems on this account later on in the season and certainly next year.

Juventus transfer strategies aren't always the bomb, nor have they been this season, but please remember that it has succeeded in getting us in top two 8 of the past 9 seasons with the only miss being the infamous injury season in which we were still only 2 points of CL and reached the semifinal of that same tournament only to selfdestruct while 2-0 up at Delle Alpi. Things aren't that bad....

i was confused for why he left and for somtime i linked him leaving the club to Lippi leaving the club to coach inter!!!
