My friend and I were having a debate whether Rooney is one of the 3 best forwards in the world and I said hell no, he isn't even in the top 10. That led to us making lists of our top 10 forwards, and I was just wondering how the people here would rank as the best. You can take whatever you want into consideration (goalscoring/playmaking/whatever) as long as the player plays forward reasonably often. (i.e. ronaldinho and totti can be included)

This was my list, in order, which i'm surely going to revise, I just wrote it out in 3 minutes without too much thought:

1. Ronaldinho
2. Shevchenko
3. Henry
4. Eto’o
5. Totti
6. Toni
7. Cassano
8. Adriano
9. Trezeguet
10. Van Nistelrooy

Who do you guys think are the best?
Hmm that's tricky Sebi. I guess mine would look like this:

1. Henry. Quite simply the best player in the world at this moment.

2. Ronaldinho.

3. Eto'o.

Do I need to explain? Even Barça would be rubble without them.

4. Shevchenko. Keeps being important and key-word is 'consistency'. Very admirable.

5. Van der Vaart. Only Dutchman you'll find in my list. He's singlehandedly held Hamburg at the top of the Bundesliga this season. They are rubbish without him and if he doesn't get injured and Van Basten doesn't lose it; he will be our key man this summer.

6. Toni. You're not top scorer of the Serie A if you suck. Bluntly put.

7. Juninho. Lyon didn't beat Milan because Shevchenko is better than him, but he's still vital to their team.

8. Adriano. Powerful, fast, good enough.

9. Farfan. Of vital importance to PSV Eindhoven and I expect he will move to a European top competition soon, so the whole world will notice his extraordinary skills.

10. Fabregas. OK so maybe he's not technically a striker but you've seen what he can do near the goal.

No Juventini in my list because Del Piero is a bench-sitter and Zlatan sucks so much right now he doesn't deserve to be there despite having the potential. Trezeguet? I'm not a fan of tap-ins, which is why Van Nistelrooy and Inzaghi aren't there.

1. henry-scorer,creator,heartbeat of his team, most effective player o the planet at the moment
2.ronaldihno-poetry in motion, moe of a creator than a scorer, best player in the world but henry is a better finisher
3.shevchenko-can anyone honestly say they would ot want him at juve?complete forward, who leads the line fantastically
4.totti-great vision and creates so much for others around him, carries the weight of a nation at the world cup
5.toni- has been exceptional for fiorentina with not a hell of a lot of service, big strong and a good finisher
6.trezeguet-given the right service there are few who are better in front of goal, a ghost who does so little during a game, but give him just one sniff of goal and he will punish you
7.eto'o- strong, fast, good striker of the ball, can be wasteful though and sometimes needs 3-4 chances before hitting the target
8.larsson-yes henrik larsson, an exceptional striker, clever player and top drawer
9.gilardino-great hope for the future of italy has matured this season at milan and will continue to progress
10. drogba-was never a big fan of his but he does sucha good job for chelsea in leading the line, finishing needs to improve if he is ever gonna be considered world class

cassano has not played enough to make it, kaka and junihno are more AM than forwards so thats why i didnt include them, del piero has been excellent this season and will always be decisive for us

Juninho, Van Der Vaart and Farfan aren't exactly forwards either. :confused2

They are in the teams they play (a lot of the time)
Van Der Vaart I can agree with, Juninho does get into the box a fair bit but that only befits his position as an attacking midfielder. Farfan on the other hand may be the best box player in PSV but IMO that's more because of his versatility, AFAIK he does most of his work on the wing, but you'd prolly be more qualified to comment on PSV so lets leave it at that.

I should probably mention I think with Dutch terms here. When I say 'forward', I mean all 3 players up front in a 4-3-3 formation (for example). If you want just the one centre player of those front three, that would be the striker.
