I don't really buy this. Kaka was still Kaka, Ambrosini was basically the same mediocre Ambrosini as always, the flank players are about the same, and they still had Pato along with Ronaldinho as a new addition.
The only difference has been the poor central defenders and Gattuso, that's about it.
Pirlo just isn't as good as he once was. There's no question about it.

It's primarily the change in fullbacks that I believe to be a problem, as much of Pirlo's passing involves switching play quicky, which needs quick, athletic fullbacks.
I consider their to be quite a big difference between Milan's fullbacks of a few years ago, mainly the change from Cafu to the current Zambrotta.
Also Italy have the same fullbacks, but Grosso and Zambrotta aren't the players they were three years ago.

In the 10000 metre run Tiago was last, exhausted. Apparently Ranieri was right for not fielding him, his form is the worst in the entire team, he can't even run. But still Ferrara trusts in him and regista position could suit him, as he coud be static in front of the defence, moving Melo to partner Sissoko in front of him. That could be the reason we decided to buy Melo instead of D'Agostino.
