Tiago Mendes has apologised for telling a Portuguese newspaper that he would like to leave Juventus.
The former Chelsea man has failed to settle in Turin since his summer arrival from French champions Lyon.
The frustration of starting just two games this season was evident as Tiago admitted that he is considering an early exit from Serie A and his agent and father Jorge Mendes insists that he regrets his statements.
“What was said in the interview is regrettable,” he explained. “He wasn’t playing and felt that he had been banished to the periphery at Juve.
“Now it’s different and as the days go by his desire to keep wearing the Bianconeri shirt increases.
“He has realised that his boss Claudio Ranieri values him, but clearly he needs everyone’s support if he is to stay in Turin and so I will talk to the directors.”
Sources suggest that there will be a meeting with Juve sporting director Alessio Secco within the first few days of the New Year to determine whether or not Tiago will remain at the club.
