What?

I'm sure he's trying to fight, but if he is being disregarded by the manager, then of course he'll become discouraged - anybody would.

I don't think you have the history to continue on with this discussion, as it's obvious you haven't read the opinions of other fans. So please, stop discussing topics you don't know about.
Do i need history to think Tiago a bit over rated. i don't think so. but i don't want to offend you or get in an argument.

I simply think it would be better if we had a player like Quaresma to take over from Nedved then have Tiago on the bench with Zanetti, Almiron and Nocerino all ahead of him in the pecking order.

I think most ppl would trade Tiago plus cash (alot probably) for Quaresma.

Anyhow I do respect what you said and I see what you are saying about Tiago's frustrations. :pint:

You really think that he is overrated? Based on what? He never get a chance to show his worth. If he was really Ranieri's choice, then I can't understand, why he didn't give him a fucking chance. You can't judge him based on friendlies, because the only good game was when we played against Roma. In all other friendlies we were poor. If the hole team is poor, you can't expect that Tiago will shine.
Until now he play only two "real" games and he didn't play so bad. IMO he show more than Almiron but you can't put him in the game in 88 minute. He should start a few games and I'm sure that he will show his real worth. I was watching him before and he could be a key to sucess in this season, but CR need to give him a chance.

Why would we trade him and cash for Quaresma or Lucho? Are you sure that we won't have the same situation? I would rather "trade" CR for Mourinho or Lippi.

we've already had this type of coach player relationship, where the player is benched for no reason, and worse players are put in ahead. We saw this with Bojinov and DD, Del Piero with Capello, it seems to be something that happens on a yearly occurance

Ranieri 'irritated' by Tiago

Claudio Ranieri admits he is “disappointed and irritated” at Tiago Mendes’ outburst, but believes Sunday’s opponents Genoa can qualify for Europe.

The Juventus boss was inevitably called upon to comment on Tiago’s threats to walk out of the club if he was not given more first team football ahead of the January transfer window.

“I was very irritated, as these are things that hurt the squad. I didn’t like it, I was disappointed and he just has to react,” said the Coach.

“In difficult moments, champions have that extra gear to react. I wanted his signing, but in my team I play whoever is in best shape. I don’t look at age, price-tags or wages. I pick who makes a team and the other 15 who go on the bench or in the stands will be disappointed, but they don’t blast people in public.”

Tiago was one of the big summer signings for the Bianconeri, but has barely stepped on to the field and this week accused Ranieri of making him “fourth choice” for the midfield.

“We had an exchange of ideas, but these things remain in the locker room. And with that, the Tiago issue is over,” snipped the former Chelsea tactician.

Another 'problem’ player has now ended the speculation, as Alessandro Del Piero penned a new contract holding him to the Turin side until 2010 with reduced wages by over 20 per cent.

“Alex is a guide for me. When I say that the new players are fitting in to the path set by the old guard, Del Piero is the standard bearer, so his contract renewal was very important. This is the right spirit that they are all setting for the new figures.”

On Sunday evening Juve resume their Serie A campaign against Genoa, another club that was promoted in the summer and has been doing remarkably well.

“After the 3-0 opening defeat to Milan, they really turned it around with three consecutive victories. They are organised, pressure opponents, play one or two-touch football. It’s a good squad.

“We seem to be taking on teams during their best period of form. That was the situation with Roma, Fiorentina and now Genoa. They are promoted like us, but are doing very well and if we can aim for a Champions League spot, then they can go for the UEFA Cup.”

Vincenzo Iaquinta will not be taking part in the Sunday evening game due to injury that also forced him out of international duty midweek.

“We can still field a trident attack, but you all know I only decide the night before the match. We have to evaluate a few things and I don’t want to give Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini the opportunity to prepare ahead of time.”

It is believed that Under-21 international Raffaele Palladino will take over in the trident attack along with Del Piero and David Trezeguet.

Our interest on G.Silva wont help the situation...
Very different type of player IMHO. Gilberto is more like Zanetti, and can't give a pass for more than 10 yards. In the Brazilian team when he played together with Emerson HE was the more defensive one, and that's saying something.

Sorry, sateeh, but since when does a professional footballer have chronic fitness problems without any sort of injury? It just doesn't make any sense. Tiago hasn't had any serious injury problems so this current rhetoric is all blowing shit in the wind as far as I am concerned. If Tiago is fit he should be given a chance, and I sort of agree with Tiago if he has come out to say he's been neglected. I have followed this player more than most have and I believe him when he says he's ready but doesnt get a start.
Well he had the injury in the beginning of the season that kept him out for a couple of games iirc. Also i read somewhere that the change in training regimes didn't sit very well with him, and he needed more time to adapt to the training.

about the bolded part, well why shouldn't Almiron come out to the media and say the same thing? He was neglected to a certain extent as well.
Fact is that both have little argument as the team is doing well and the respective players in their positions have played much better than expected.

hmm well from what i have seen of Tiago i think he is a good player but in terms of character he seems to be spineless and weak
Tiago is being kept out of the team by an inexperienced player, Nocerino, yet he does not have the balls to put up a fight ? or even wait a whole season to try to make an impact?
Poor show from Tiago IMO, as a seasoned professional he should know better, & if anything keep his head down & his mouth shut when he is being out-performed both on the field & in training (so says Ranieri) by a kid in Nocerino, the very player Tiago should use his experience to develop, as in europe next year, we'll need 2 players in each position & these 2 would share one spot

I'm not sure if Nocerino is really that offensive minded. He can venture forward rather well, but I see him more as an all-action midfielder who can provide the bite in midfield we need. I'd rather mold him to that defensive side of midfield as that is where I think he'd excel, much more than out on a wing like Ranieri likes to deploy him (idiotic).
Nocerino is a Pirlo-esque player from what Ive seen, a deep lying CM playmaker, but perhaps stronger in the tackle than the Milan man. Playiing them together (as Pado suggests) is def an option against the weaker teams at the Olympico, we dont wanna go back to Emo/Blasi type combo!

Why would we trade him and cash for Quaresma or Lucho? Are you sure that we won't have the same situation? I would rather "trade" CR for Mourinho or Lippi.
Quaresma out wide as a replacement for Nedved is a great move, & if we can realise some value in trading our 4th choice CM in doing so, so be it. I take your point about not getting a chance, but as was already posted, Ranieri says he bases team selection on what he sees in training everyday, & at the moment Tiago hasn't earned the right to play over Noce. Im glad we have a manger who picks the team on merit, not pricetag, & in todays game to see a young, gifted Italian player win a place over an expensive foriegn import can only be a good thing. Your point about bringing in Mourinho - he let Tiago go once, would do so again, then what?

My only concern is that it develops into a DD/Boji or Crapello/Ale situation, but def doesn't seem that way so far. Tiago either needs to be quiet & fight for a place or hit the road.

Very different type of player IMHO. Gilberto is more like Zanetti, and can't give a pass for more than 10 yards. In the Brazilian team when he played together with Emerson HE was the more defensive one, and that's saying something.
Silva would be a good addition for next season, to bring his experience, Zanetti has struggled in the big games in the past & we all hope for european glory, so world cup winners always welcome!

got to love how this guy practically said that the only difference between nocerino and pirlo is that nocerino tackles more strongly
By saying he's like Pirlo I said they are so similar? I was trying to make a point, but obv should just use the forum to attack people for having an opinion, sorry, my mistake.

I agree and this is probably what Ranieri wants, a more defensive player,
the point is that if we are interested to get another DM, then Tiago def has no place here...
Sad bad true, i would prefer the most creative Amiron-Tiago twin for our midfield but it seems that the position of the creative central midfielder is cursed in Juve after Zidanne left...

Nocerino and Zanetti aren't exactly worse than Tiago right now though. As for Almiron, yeah, he's been more dissapointing than Tiago so far.
I cant believe why everybody says that Tiago has dissapointed, the guy started one lousy game in serie a since he came & he even played good & he was one of the best players on the pitch.
Aside from that he got to play only 20 min. in a couple of games.
when he gets a real chance then u can judge him.
It is very obvious now that Tiago's lack of playing is not technical it is personnel.

Anyway as much as I like this guy & admire him,if his presence will make problems inside the group, then sell him in january,in the end Ranieri is the coach & he has the right do whatever he wants & the judgement comes in the end.

Tiago deserves to play but that wasn't the way to handle it. Don't go public with it because that will just make the manager even more pissed. Stupid raneri, tiago's on his way out and he didn't even get a chance.

Villarreal And Juventus In Tiago-Riquelme Swap?

Want-away Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes could be on the way to Villarreal, according to rumours in the Italian press. What's more, Juan Roman Riquelme could potentially be heading the other way...

Italian media sources claim that Villarreal have shown an interest in Juventus midfielder Tiago.

Tiago, crestfallen after a difficult start to his career at the Old Lady, recently hit out publicly at the club for his lack of first team opportunities in Turin.

Enraged coach Claudio Ranieri, promptly fired back that the ex-Lyon midfielder was not bigger than the team, and that he'd continue to choose the starting XI as he saw fit.

Consequently, the relationship between the pair is thought to have hit a new low, with the Portuguese international's idea of moving on in January perhaps taking on a new air of seriousness.

Compare and contrast this to Juan Roman Riquelme's current situation at Villarreal. The Liga high-flyers recently restated that the gifted Argentine did not figure in coach Manuel Pellegrini's first team plans.

Indeed, the Yellow Submarine hierarchy pledged that they would do their best to offload the playmaker in January, with a host of top European and Argentinean clubs thought to be interested.

Juventus could be amongst them, and that's why various peninsular papers have speculated about a swap deal involving Tiago and Riquelme.

The move could take place in January and could presumably take the form of a part-exchange deal. Villarreal are thought to be ready to cut their losses with Riquelme, while Juve want to recover some of the 13 million euros that they splashed on Tiago.

For now, of course, this remains mere paper talk. Nonetheless, it's possible that each of the two players would be excited with the prospect of their respective switch...
