I suppose you're right, a morale problem can indeed affect a players performance drastically, maybe even more than a physical one. I really think he's a very good player, I just hope he comes to the same conclusion himself soon.

He looked good at the end of the match, he got a lot more involved with the play and had some good moves. Overall, with Almiron's poor performances in pretty much all of the official games, I think he deserves a shot from the start of the match. And the Roma game just might be the one to kickstart his form again. That, or we could seriously regret it...
i would definitely take the chance and start him against the romanisti on sunday. Almiron is crumbling under the pressure and i dont think putting nocerino there is the best option considering his experience levels.

I say put tiago there and switch the formation since camo is out.

I have faith in Nocerino, but he needs to be played in the centre. He is wasted being played out wide.

Media BS. Tiago might not be world class (we clearly payed too much), but he can still add a lot to our midfield. The season is still soooo long, Tiago has time to get his things straight and impose himself.

Juve May Sell Tiago In January

Juventus may decide to cut their losses on summer signing Tiago Mendes and sell the midfield flop in January.

The Portuguese international was Juventus’ most expensive acquisition for the new season as the Bianconeri forked out almost £9.2m for the Lyon man.

Tiago was expected to provide the Juventus midfield some much-needed power after the loss of Patrick Vieira and Emerson in 2006.

However the ex-Chelsea man has been a complete disaster in Turin and Ranieri has made it perfectly clear that he does not fancy the player by picking the likes of Cristiano Zanetti and Antonio Nocerino ahead of him.

Reports in today’s Corriere dello Sport claim that Juventus will cut their losses and let Tiago go in January for a cut-price deal. As a replacement Ranieri will be handed €20m to find his man.

The favourite to take Tiago’s position at the club is Boca Juniors midfielder Pablo Ledesma. The 23-year-old is rated highly in Argentina and recently made his debut for the national side in the game with Chile earlier this year.

Another option could be to bring back Italy Under-21 international Claudio Marchisio, who has been sent out on loan to Empoli. The 21-year-old played a prominent part in Juventus’ Serie B promotion campaign last year but was sent to Tuscany to free up space for Tiago.

Total bunk. While I don't think he's been outstanding, he hasn't really had the chances to be a flop. Even if he is, Juventus would not immediately flip him in January, and definitely not for another enigma like Ledesma. Of course, for 20m Euro, I bet they could grab Rosina...

I think Tiago will be fine. But this situation really shows that buying both Almiron and Tiago at the expense they did and at the cost of Marchisio was a mistake.

Secco: Tiago Just Needs Time

Juventus club director of sport Alessio Secco stresses that under-fire midfielder Tiago Mendes just requires a little time to settle.

zoom - galleria The Portugal international was Juventus’ most expensive acquisition for the new season as the Bianconeri forked out almost £9.2m for the Lyon man.

Tiago was expected to provide the Juventus midfield with some much-needed power following the loss of Patrick Vieira and Emerson in 2006 but has been a huge disappointment thus far.

Reports in today’s Corriere dello Sport claim that Juventus will cut their losses and let Tiago go in January for a cut-price deal. As a replacement Ranieri will be handed €20m to find his man.

However Secco has shot down these rumours and says that Tiago will prove his worth. “Tiago’s form a mystery? No, he is a great player. All we need is a bit of patience,” explained Secco.

“Zinedine Zidane took a while to acclimatise when he first moved here. Tiago is one of the best midfielders in Europe and we will wait for him to find his feet.”

Secco also made another surprise judgement when he labelled Cristiano Zanetti, another midfielder who has hardly impressed this season, as Juventus’ Massimo Ambrosini.

“Zanetti is our Ambrosini,” declared the director. “Zanetti is to Juventus what Ambrosini is to Milan.”

Secco is right (I know, its a rare thing)

I don't think Tiago is elite, but he's solid and will be the best midfielder Juventus has until they dish out some big money on Diego, VDV, etc.

Comparing Ambrosini to Zanetti is also quite apt. I don't know who Garganese is watching, but Ambrosini has hardly been impressive either. But both are competent and play a simple, but necessary game.
