I would take that little French club over a club of mediocre players who may come third in Serie A ..
Salihamidzic was a good pick up but i think maby as a squad player (plus he is a winger) .. frings to replace emerson and/or vieira ... this leaves me sad cuz frind is not as good as either of them
and he is the same age pretty much
i think people are kidding themselves a little bit with way too much hope and optimism that many of the mediocre players we are linked with are absolute world beaters and will get us the title right away. If we want that we have to have a team worthy of the other contenders and Frings- Almiron for example is not
worthy of say Pirlo-Gattusso or Cambiasso-Vieira ...

IMO Frings is underrated here. Frings is maybe the best German player and the most consistent player Werder has this season. He played in a side that was 2nd and 3rd in a World Cup, he has CL experience, he won the double in Germany etc. He is 30 years and won't play for many years with Juve, but in contrast to the highly-praised Mavuba he has already shown that he has a certain quality.
Right you are, but I think it's a good mix of midfield quality capable of getting the CL spot we desire. After getting that CL spot, our club can offer players the attraction of the champions league again; opening doors to players of higher quality.

I still can't comprehend what special things do people see in Emerson. Even in his prime, he was slow like hell, not that tough and not even a passer (And before asking what is a passer, I said watch Pirlo and Alonso). The only good thing in Emerson is his positioning and nothing else.
By the way, I just mentioned some of the required skills in a defensive midfielder, but when it comes to a centre midfielder, Emerson is a joke.

I am not so sure .. the other clubs will be competing in the CL and with 4 or 5 top players we can be right up there in quality.
Plus our team has alot of angst and fight. While it would be hard I think we are in place to win the league.
Just think if we sign say (example)
Mavuba, Deco, Ribery, Pepe and Barzagli we would have a team which is very capable

to me bitch slapping and promptly smashing inter into the ground while ripping the scudetto badge off their shirt and sticking it on ours would be satisfying

Ribery to replace Nedved and Nedved to play as a centre midfielder, like the last match against Lecce.
I think playing Nedved in the center could be worth it.Because firstly,he isnt getting any younger,and the wings reguire speed.I dont doubt his commitment,but he doesnt have the same pace that he did a few years ago.With Camoranesi on the right,Nedved and Frings in the centre,we should look for a quality Left winger.Ideally,id like Robben as he is left footed and can play in a number of attacking positions.Though the chances of getting him are minimal.
people forget quick .. emerson turned our team around. We went from being no where near succes to champions with Emerson and Canna
Emerson gave cover to the defence and that was his job. He did it well so Nedved and Camo could start attacks
He may not be an all action mid but you don't need to be a world class sprinter or and great creative player to be a great defensive mid
Frings is not good enough to be a defensive mid here i think. maby if he was paired with a better mid and he took the offensive side of things but making him our main mid may be a mistake imo
plus next season he will be 31 why would it be smart to have him? if his ability to fight and battle are part of what makes him great at 31 and on he will be doing less and less fighting and battling
But i am not saying Frings is a bad player just not as high class as everyone says.
Trying to say he is better than Emerson is hard because as a defensive mid at bayern i think frings was not very good and could not handle criticism so he left. While Emerson has been a great DM for a long time and was even Captain of Brazil. He may not add much in attack but again .. not his job.
If we want a center mid who could add to the attack why not buy Deco? Frings seems a like we are not aiming very high.
If we want a defensive style mid we could buy Gilberto or Mavuba...
then maby pair him with frings who is ok at defence and ok at attacking ...

Nedved and Frings would get opened up
we would need another defensive mid in there with them i think cuz nedved can only defend so well (although great work rate) and Frings is ok a defence but not great
maby if we played a mid of
Ribery-------Nedved--------Camo
---------Gilberot-----Frings-----
or something with 3 in defence we could get away with it ?
