The situation was completely untenable - Motta had to go.

Where to from here for Motta? Will he fail upwards to an EPL club, or stay in Italy?

It was probably best for him to part ways now. If Motta stayed and actually missed out on top 4, his managerial career would be completely over. We have done Motta a favour by cutting the cord early and letting him escape the current circus act led by Giuntoli. I don't think his stock (especially outside of Italy) will take too much damage after this.

Started good, then injuries came and we had crisis and he wasnt able to cope with it. Last few months he had good team at his disposal but was unable to create anything good from it, the 5 wins streak was mostly luck.
Kudos for the win vs Inter, but his ideas didnt work here. The club is to blame also.
None of the big transfers worked out and one has to question why? Nico Gonzalez, Douglas Luiz and Koop are all good players, but somehow they play like shit.
My first thinking is the fitness level of this team, so many injuries and so many players looking out of shape, wont even mention all of the muscle injuries we had.
Its the same with every staff, we pray that this or this coach will bring his fitness magician with him and all the fitness and injury issues will be gone, yet its always the same. Why is that? Maybe the guys who are always there at Continassa are the problem? Or maybe its just what it is when u play league, cup and CL and it will always happen - u just have to sign two guys for each position?

Better late than never!

I don't think I've ever seen someone do such a quick 180
Wasnt really quick. It was building up. Too many counts of incompetence especially with his relationship with players/coaches. The Kelly deal was probably final nail in the coffin.

Regardless it's pretty classless to say to a departing coach that you hired in the first place that you're ashamed.

Thiago Motta was unable to cope with the difficult moments that the team was experiencing.

The training sessions of the last few days have been described as surreal, with the coach impassive and silent on the sidelines, without making any changes to his working methods.

This attitude fueled internal tensions and contributed to the mistrust towards him, until his official dismissal yesterday (@repubblica )

Its just speculation, but it’s believable because in recent games he would just stand there on the sidelines like a statue, barely giving any direction. Sucks to see a persons ego get in their own way. *Allegedly*

This was already clear when it was evident that the 2 man mid wouldn't work and he kept on insisting on it.

"I have lived intense moments, always faced with maximum determination and the will to improve every day. I thank the owners for giving me the opportunity to be part of this great club, the management and all the people at the club who supported me in my daily work, the players for the work and commitment shown since the first day together. I wish the fans and Juventus the best for the future".

I never understood this guy's stubbornness... it's like you never won anything in your young coaching career... the only thing noteworthy is Bologna which is only made possible because of Serie Ass. I expected him to be a flexible coach but he turned out to be worse than Allegri in terms of that... that's quite a bad feat.

Was too immature for such a big job. If the rumors suggesting that he stood silently on the sidelines during recent training sessions are true, that shows that he was not supported by management and this job was way over his head at this stage in his career. Feel sorry for him but he was too inexperienced and stubborn.

The guy was way out of his depth. He had a very unimpressive start which with time turned into a truly awful brand of football which continued to deteriorate into turmoil. At no point did he adapt, he alienated senior members of the squad and failed to improve a single player. Look at Cambiasso’s form, Vlahovic situation, the defensive solidity, the list goes on and on. None of the players bought into his playing style and he wasn’t strong enough to react, just carried on with the same system, chopping and changing players and giving zero consistency.

While I agree there is still major issues within the senior management team, Motta did nothing but add to the environment of chaos. This is going to be a tough finish to the season but he absolutely had to go, because he never should have been chosen in the first place.
