So I'm not gonna pretend I watched more than 2 of his games prior to coming here but for those who did, is this a case of a manager coming to a club with infinitely greater expectations & being too scared to try and do his own thing?

He doesn't seem fully committed to trying to control games. We definitely aren't as cowardly this season but we're still far too chickenshit against these pub teams.

22 games, 9 wins, 12 draws, 1 defeat. I expected more from him and the team by December. Yet here we are, no progress at all. He needs to change something and quickly. If results continue this way, he wont survive the season.
If results continue this way we are almost guaranteed to miss out on Top 4, however it’s hard to imagine we can do worst than what we’ve seen till now so i’m still hoping that by February at the latest we will already be in a much better run of form, otherwise his job might indeed be at risk even as soon as next month, i guess much will depend on what we do during the winter mercatto too.

Don't worry he is quick learner you will see a different Juve against Calgiari.
We already played Cagliari though, and it was much of the same, ended in a draw lol

But i guess maybe in the CoppaItalia we will put in a better showing after all.

Let's not become the next Roma.It is highly unfortunate that Motta who was rated as one of best young coaches in the world is not given time to sort this mess.

If it was about not giving him time he would have been sacked by now, we’ve all been more than patient with him and many still are because realistically there’s still plenty of time to turn things around and secure that 4th spot, however if we continue for another month or so like this we are almost certain to see a bigger gap and then miss out even on qualifying for UCL next season, which is something we can not afford to wait and find out.

He is the only manager I wanted to replace Max so I have given him a lot of slack. What he did with Bologna was truly remarkable. However, the pressure of coaching big clubs is something else and a lot of managers failed to make their mark on a big stage.

He has 1 more point than Pirlo had at the same stage of the season (28 pts V 27 pts, 15 league games played)

27 goals scored/14 against for Pirlo, 26 goals scored and 12 goals conceded for Motta.

Dreadful.
Very disappoining. Can he turn this around? Not if he keeps insisting on the same approach each game.

Actually, Motta is a lot worse.
First of all, yesterday we played round 16, and Motta's Juve has 28 points after 16 rounds, not 15.
Pirlo's Juve did indeed have 27 points after round 15, but that was also because round 3 (the match vs Napoli, which we won eventually) wasn't played until after New Year. In the opening 16 matches in Serie A (rounds 1-17, without round 3), Pirlo's Juve won 33 points (goal difference: 35:16)

So it's
Motta 28:33 Pirlo (points)
Motta 26:35 Pirlo (goals scored)
Motta 12:16 Pirlo (goals conceded)
Motta +14:+19 Pirlo (goal difference)

Pirlo inherited a team which won the league 9 years in a row and had Ronaldo.
