vlahovic's replacements this season:
cl:
- adzic against stuttgart, 22 minutes (plus stoppages), 0g0a
- weah v lille, 22, 0g0a
league:
- weah v napoli, 45, 0g0a
- mbamgulka v inda, 13, 0g0a
- cisco v udine, 19, 0g0a

neither of them are 9's of course, but 0 contributions in over 100 minutes is a bit worrying. also when we took vlahovic off we only scored against inda (those two yildiz goals). other than bremer's injury, this is our biggest riddle to solve. is afena gyan in that bad form?

None of those players are the answer. Yildiz is the closest we have to play as a false 9 but is also not suited to it.

An alternative to Vlahovic is a clear issue and a miss by Guintoli over the summer.

of course, we discussed it many times. but now the summer is over and motta should figure shit out, and he isn't.

Like I said after the Parma game, I'm starting to see very little improvement overall. We're just too static tactically, sit too deep, don't play well on the counter and too slow in possession and our gameplay doesn't really suit the players well. This 4231 system just doesn't get the most out of our defense, Yildiz, Vlahovic and midfield.

Hato to say it, but this squad should play 3-5-2 if we want to utilize most players

MDG
Gatti Kalulu Cabal
Weah Fagioli Thuram Cambiaso
Koop
Yildiz Vlahovic

Without Bremer Id say our D isn't strong enough
Vlahovic struggles as a lone #9, Yildiz isn't a LW either, wasted out there. I reckon a lot more scored would be scored.
Koop is fine as a 10
Weah and Cambiaso can cross and play that fullback role well.
Fagioli/Loca as a DM regista

Interesting fact that in his Bologna days, in first season he played Arnautovic as no. 9. His substitute Zirkzee as no.9 not really working.

In season season, it's zirkzee as his key player to his tactics and boom. He exploded.

I don't know, maybe his false 9 tactics will work on second season?

you guys need to stop this obsession with false 9.

do you guys remember when conte took over? he was known for his 424 formation. he took over, saw he didn't have the players for it and played a
352 that became the basis of juve's 7-8 out of 9 consecutive titles.

he needs to play the players in their best positions instead of making the players fit his favorite formation.

All that needs to be said.

I’m not saying we would have won if he didn’t make those changes, but we would have had much more of a chance imo.

I knew the game was done the moment Vlahovic came off. Absolutely braindead move to make after just equalising.
Dusan has basically started every single game.

Do you want to kill our only striker?

Blame Jungtoli for his mess of a mercato.

Whatever way you look at it we were chasing the game in that second half, he then scored the equalizer, soon after we were basically trying to win it, momentum on our side and then we go on to take off our main striker/goalscoring threat and replaced him with an average backup winger.

You can occasionally rest your main and only ST who also happens to be the highest paid player, but not when you are pushing forward and looking to score a winning goal tbh, we chose to rely on counters and it clearly did not work out that well.

So much this. Everyone is adapting to ideas and wishes of our pretentious coach, while coach isn't adapting anything to players. Some of our best players have been playing out of position in many of our games.

He's inexperienced coach and on top of it he still doesn't learn and adapt. That's the worse part of our current situation.

If he would give up on his stubbornness and pretentiousness he might even become a good coach and move down to level of clubs like Roma, Foirentina and Lazio, where he might even do well.

You know we usually get along, but currently i really wonder whether you are seriously content and defending this draw vs Lille or just triggering others? Talking about lowering the standards…

You just know it’s not even that funny anymore when even @Lion makes so much sense in some of his posts.

May I remind you sir that in the league currently clubs like Atalanta and Fiorentina are ahead of us, while in Champions League clubs like Brest and Aston Villa are ahead of us.

Damn, Aston Villa must have used that money for Douglas Luiz well when they dropped his useless ass to us for 50 million.

Aston Villa are a very good team though, with a very good coach who has been there for 2 seasons. Gasp has been at Atalanta for 75 years. Are we really splitting hairs about teams 1 point ahead of us after 10 games? Let's be serious.

Just because we are a bigger name doesn't mean we just turn up with a new coach and are automatically an elite club, that's a work in progress.

That i can agree with, and he sure deserves more time to see how far he can take us this season, especially given the injury struggles, but truth is that we are still waiting to see any patterns of real progress, lately there’s been more experiments and sideways/backwards steps rather than actual signs of positive things to come.

Yeah I would have liked to have seen more steady progress, but some of that is down to circumstance, mostly the key injuries so far. He's not as quick as I'd like at finding solutions to problems, but this is a guy with no experience of leading a top club. You can mess around with things at Bologna but there's pressure on us to win every game, and it only gets worse if you don't win for a couple of games.

Sure, we usually often agree, I was plenty of times in Bucuresti btw and did a bit of tour Brasov, Sinai, Bustemi, etc. ;) Im patiently waiting to see how this will turn out. It is ok if some people cant hold back, but I think it is too early for drama. With a new coach, a lot of new and young players it was always going to be difficult in the beginning and we are just there, at the start. I see some positives that outweight the negatives atm but it is far from ideal. Losing our best CB took its toll on our defensive solidity. Give it time.

Brest are ahead of RM, what an example  we are ahead of RM as well.

11/38 rounds played in the league. I just cant :lol2:
