Motta:My players have freedom on the field. After going down 0-2, it seemed like it was over, but with great heart, the boys turned it around and secured an important point against a good side."
Is this what he really said? That gives me Ranieri 2008 vibes

We have a 50m midfielder on the field, 75m striker on the field and some brazilian 50m hobbo on the bench.

He is talking like he is still at Bologna

Thats why im saying this job is too big for him.

The way we are discussing here, there will ALWAYS be rebuilding. We dont even know if Vlahovic should start next season for us. We dont even know which midfielder currently in our roster is 100% right to start, cause noone of them show any justification. Koopmeiner was supposed to be some top3 midfielder in the league kind of guy.

If we go undefeated in the league (and win no other trophy) but finish 6th would you keep or sack Motta?
Depends. If our injury crisis continues, I cant blame him as much for results when he has to field players like Rouhi and our options on the bench are non existant. Our defense is worse this season since Bremer got injured so he gets more slack. In short I would keep. Completely different story if he had the best team available most of the times but achieved underwhelming results. I am not happy how the season is progressing but from me he gets a pass because of injuries.

What concerns me is that we have played a few games against fairly unspectacular teams (Stuttgart, Parma, Bologna) and been absolutely dominated in the first half.

We need to play better overall but particularly from the start.

Cambiaso getting injured early on, messed up our gameplan. We are running out of players at this point since there is a new injury almost each game.

Which manager gets such treatment in world football? Maybe Klopp at Dortmund when he went there in 2008 but that was very different also. It was a fallen "giant" and Dortmund didnt have any money when he went there. We just bought 50m Koopmeiners and have a 75m striker.

I could understand if its 2006 and we give Deschamps 3 years.

Its not like Motta has a proven record. Imagine if we would have Guardiola or Klopp hired right now. Then you could say. Klopp took 3-4 years at Dortmund before Bundesliga and same with Liverpool. But he has the record to back it. Motta has what record? He could easily be another Del Neri. Remember Del Neri? The Sampdoria 4th place hero. Where is he now? Cleaning toilets in Sky Italia studio.
I don't think it's very different at all. We did buy some very expensive players, what does this matter though?

We will never hire someone like that with a proven record, this is not Real Madrid or the English clubs with unlimited resources. So then where does that leave us? Exactly where we are, doing exactly what we're doing by betting on potential. And potential needs time to succeed or fail.

With Max, only the attacking players had freedom to do whatever they wanted. With Motta, everyone has freedom. Unleashed!

Anything outside of the top 4 should be a sackable offence.

Id usually argue that anything outside of fighting for the Scudetto should be enough reason as we should always be fighting for first place.

But all things considered: first season at a big club, weak squad and too many injuries. Then top 4 should be enough to give him another chance.
This team is not for winning trophies, We appointed him for two main reasons the first is to revive the status that we have lost since 2020 and he was the only option that fit our financial circumstance.

Lol @ the framing... Half our team is made up of youngsters who were in Serie C last season during this injury crisis...

For a big part Motta is responsible for our attacking limitations right now but he has a lot of circumstances against him too that justify giving him some more time.
