Not sure about such a static and limited striker in a 4-3-3. i like 4-3-3 with free roaming forwards like Barca. Matri would be better suited in a 4-2-3-1 getting service from the wingers and the attacking midfielder imo.

TBH, I'm not sure Matri is that static. In any case, he's certainly not Trezeguet with his heading ability nor Drogba with his strenght. If we had Trez I would completely agree with having the play go through the wings, however I think matri is a decently mobile striker, he's scored a few goals for us moving into space and running onto the ball shooting.

In any case, we could use Quag there and have an ultra-mobile striker force.

Matri's movement is decent for someone of his size, but I don't think he's suited to such formations. Quag would be a better choice.
Also in 4-3-3- you need someone who's good on the ball and can beat his man, that's not Matri. His heading is decent and so is his ball holding abilities which should be enough for him to succeed as a lone striker, atlhough it would be much better if Juve find a proper world class striker instead.

If Pirlo is in the game for good , i think a 4-3-3 is more suitable.
With only Melo in his side, who is a good player , but in my opinion , capable for the best and the worst at the same time , it's possible ( for the time being , let's say only possible ) that we could struggle. Yes Pirlo can dictate the tempo of the game , but he wont run so much, he wont press, he wont defend strongly, so all this would be up to Melo. It's too much of a job i think for one man. To conclude , i believe that a Melo - Pirlo centre is full of quality but also lacks movement ( i hope you get what i mean, it's possible i dont use the right word) and ability to conect properly the defensive line with the attack.
This ,and moreover, i find it hard to trust Melo's stability and Pirlo's age and injury proneness.

If we play the alleged 4-2-4, we will need defensive fullbacks, especially so we can use Pirlo. Beck and Sakho should do the trick.

Coach:Conte

Buffon
Beck-Bonucci-Chiellini-Sakho
Pirlo-Lass
Krasic............-.............Bastos
Matri-Aguero

In=Beck(8M), Sakho(20M), Lass(Swap for Melo), Bastos(15M), Pirlo(free), Aguero(35M), Matri(15,5 M), Quag(10,5M)=104 M euros

Out=Iaquinta, Sissoko, Giovinco, Amauri, etc.=~20 M euros

If our board is serious about Conte and his 4-4-2/4-2-4, we need this kind of investment and these players.

Yeah but it'd be better if the three forwards are good on the ball, it would be nice for example for the central of the three to drop deep and one of the wider forwards taking place. Aguer-Quag-Neymar can nicely interchange positions.

Sakho would cost less than 20m IMO. Pirlo is not a two-man central midfield player:tup:
