Neymar has scored 19 goals in 55 games for Santos, which is impressive for a 17 year old kid coming onto the block. Just under a goal every other game.

He's made one appearance for Brazil and scored one goal.

I think both have displayed the ability to score alot of goals and it's even more impressive for Neymar due to his young age.
But how is it that Neymar is less of a gamble than signing someone who has been scoring goals at the top level in Europe for several years?

Neymar could score 20+ goals per season in Brazil for the next five years, and I'd still view him as a bigger gamble than Dzeko is right now.

I never said he was less of a gamble I just said they're both equally a gamble.

Dzeko looks like the real deal and I would be overjoyed with either to be honest I just think this team needs more creativity upfront and that bit of a spark and Neymar shows that more than Dzeko.

Dzeko if we had say Giovinco or Cassano next to him would be perfect however I don't see that happening so I'd personally choose Neymar who can create for himself. I think Misimovic has had a huge impact on Dzeko's scoring over the past years.

Exactly.

If the fee was less than 20m I would be happy to see Juve take a gamble on a highly rated kid from South America.

30m, though?

Too big a gamble for me.
Yeah I agree with you. But in a few years those 30m have the potential to be the best 30m Juve have ever spent if he ends up fulfilling his potential. But Neymar, damn, getting him would be like when Cleveland won the draft lottery and ended up selecting Lebron James as the nr 1 pick.

Okay then.

I don't understand how they can be considered to be of a similar level of risk?
The German league is better than the Brazilian thats for sure, however I think Serie A is a fair few levels above the Bundesliga in terms of defensive ability anyway. I'd be wary about Dzeko being able to score the same amount of goals in Serie A. Perhaps I'm being biased/blind but I'm cautious about certain players who are dependable on the team to operate at their top level, as was shown with Diego.

I prefer my forwards to show flare and to be able to create for themselves when the chips are down, I don't think Dzeko can do that.

If we don't get Neymar this summer forget him, we have the first option on him and should use it. Wolfsburg proved last summer that they can play hardball all the way through the summer.

Everything you need to know right here;

"This is what happens when you worship a teenager."

He tries that at Juventus, and he's put in his place by the fans, captain (Del Piero, Buffon, Chiellini, Marchisio etc), coach, board and most importantly, the media. The Santos board can't afford to see him benched, after giving him a huge contract (for SA standards).

The thing that potential buyers should be worried about is whether he is in the right physical build to cope with a top European league.

Since I think DEF is our biggest issue at the moment, I'm going for Zaccardo or Maggio for RB and LB idk wish we didn't let go Balzeretti he's the best Italian LB this season; but I guess we have to make one of our CDM a left back...Melo won't be that bad.

I'm just gonna leave this here, maybe someone might find it interesting.

French newspaper Le Progres is reporting that Olympique Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is not pleased with his striker Lisandro Lopez's recent performances and plans to offload him in January. Lopez (27) is worth around 15 million Euros

So you think our defense is our biggest problem at the moment and you want Zaccardo and Melo as our fullbacks?
