Montolivio, Gilardino, Pirlo, Bastos, Menez?

Marotta is well on the way to building a Europa League team if this is all true. Well done man, well done.

sell Iaquinta, Amauri...keep Matri, Quag and DP. Toni could stay as backup and sign a Lamela or something if we can't afford other players. Invest on fullbacks, a LW and a couple of mids.
Lamela would be too much like Diego for cross eyes over there, so don't count on it.

That's you all over :D If he were to bang in many goals what would it matter?

I'm not for this move anyway, nor do I think it will happen. Yes to Ekdal.
Players like him get cut off easily as they are very predictable (especially on the big stage, in Europe). And I'm not in favor of having 2 strikers like Gila and Matri up front. I personally would prefer Matri cause he offers more on the pitch.

Trezeguet was different, he only needed one touch but Gilardino is very slow and plays in the box. But when I analyze players I don't look only for goal ratio and I don't think that's the most important thing. I like dynamic players with very good technique while Gila doesn't posses either of those.

But the bottom line is that I'd avoid him (especially if we're buying Matri).

This is exactly why we won't sign him, unless he is a Iaquinta replacement or Matri isn't signed. Matri is more rounded anyway.

Even if we decide to skip on Matri I think getting Gilardino would be bad. Goals would be there but we'd suffer so many times because he's just too limited and predictable. I really really hope it doesn't happen and I think there are far better players for his value.

Lisandro is probably too expensive for us but I think he's very good. Hulk or Rossi would be good SS next to Matri IMO.

If we're going to play 4-3-3 with wide strikers I think both Vucinic and Menez would fit in great and both seem available. If not, I'd like to see us go after A.Ayew as I kinda rate that guy pretty high.

Anyway, that list could go on and I think Gilardino should be avoided at all cost. Gilardino-type of player are players for old and not this modern football. No teams in England and Germany would play with that striker, maybe not even in that horrible Spain.
