Inter-Juve-Milan battle for Bastos
Thursday 5 August, 2010
It’s reported that Inter and Juventus are battling for Michel Bastos, but the Lyon and Brazil star reveals: “Milan told me that I am too expensive.”
The left-back impressed during the 2010 World Cup and aged 27 is appetising to all of Europe’s top clubs.
There are newspaper suggestions in L’Equipe that the Olympique Lyonnais star is at the centre of a tug-of-war between Inter and Juventus.
If Douglas Maicon is to join Real Madrid, then the Nerazzurri could push their attacking verve down the left side rather than the right.
Juve’s 4-4-2 system requires attacking full-backs and Fabio Grosso is set to leave after failing to make an impact last season.
However, Bastos himself explains that the only real contact he has had was from Milan during the recent 1-1 Emirates Cup draw in London.
“There is a long time until the transfer market closes on August 31,” he told L’Equipe.
“Right now I am concentrated on Lyon, as I have not received any offers. I only read stories in the newspaper.
“In any case, if the club wants to sell me, they ought to say so. During the Emirates Cup someone from Milan told me that I am too expensive.
“Perhaps that means they already spoke to the Lyon directors.”
