Van der Wiel just keeps on improving, he's better now than I thought he'd be at this stage. It's not like there's great competition but he's definitely starting RB in our national team.
Errrrm, it's a bit like Andy says. It's not like he'll have one bad match for every good match, far from it, but he's no Robben either, obviously. Actually, the games in which he's quiet are pretty damn rare, as he always tries to get past his defender and make things happen, he's that kind of player. He's definitely getting better and better though, it's a shame he's injured right now.
He's definitely gotten better at Hamburg, a level which is can handle pretty easily. I think pretty highly of him, I'd love to have him on the left flank next to Diego, he'd make life for Italian defenders a living hell. He's only 23 aswell.
I'd prefer Silva, but I couldn't come up with many names I'd prefer from the top of my head.

Well capable of defending, he's not just a fullback who runs forward without being able do his defensive duties, like Bale. He's good allround really, pretty complete player whenever I've watched him. He does well defending and can be a real threat going forward, with a good shot and cross.
The only 'problem' is that most games he's played have been in the Dutch league at one of the better teams, so he rarely gets tested for a whole game. He's played for our national team, for which he's the starting RB ever since we tried him out, but he's rarely played a game with full pressure on.
From what I've seen and his probably not very high price, I'd definitely take that gamble to have him as RB though, not a doubt in my mind.
