Yes, indeed. I think he just needs a change of scenery, and methinks he'll fit this league like a glove. He'll be far cheaper than RVP, not to mention we wouldn't be sacrificing Melo or Buffon to acquire him.

Perhaps. But I stand by my words, we can't afford to purchase luxuries up front like Van Persie. There are bigger gaps to be filled first methinks.

Juventus to offer Buffon and Melo as bait for Van Persie

Juventus are considering using Gianluigi Buffon and Felipe Melo as bait in order to lure Robin van Persie away from Arsenal.

Reports in Italy suggest that the Turin giants are gearing up for a full scale attack on the transfer market this summer, with Van Persie, Fernando Torres, and Edin Dzeko topping their list of targets.

However, with Juventus unlikely to be in the Champions League next season, it’s unlikely that Torres would be tempted into a move, and Dzeko would fetch a figure close to £30million.

Therefore the Old Lady see the Gunners forward as the most realistic prospect, and with Arsene Wenger in desperate need for a goalkeeper and defensive midfielder, the Italians feel that their offer of Buffon and Melo could just tempt the Frenchman into parting with one of his prized assets.

I would prefer Melo + cash if we want Van Persie.

I'd give a right arm for a straight swap of Buffon and Van Persie. Shit, i'd even be ok with playing Bendtnder as our starting striker all season and not buying a Robin replacement if it meant Buffon at goal. The amount of goals that we concede as a result of stupid goalkeeping errors are too much for my blood pressure. Seeing Buffon line up in goal for us is just a wet dream unfortunately :depressed
