Who is going to score next season?

Have you noticed that at the moment we rely on set pieces and Chiellini to bang in goals?
that's because we don't know how to play, not because our strikers are shit...zero penetration from the flanks, nobody making runs into the box, Diego flailing his arms and begging people to get forward into attacking positions...that's the real problem.

I find it hard to really blame our strikers this season, as we have not created anything. It is not like they've missed 4 opportunities every game. (well maybe Iaquinta in the beginning of the season).

This transfer campaign will be defense vs creativity vs finishing. I choose the former two, and we should only splash big on a striker if a truly remarkable possibility shows itself (Higuain, Torres you name em').

How do you know it's a medical staff problem? We have at least 7 players injured for a third year in a row. How do you know it's always the same staff?

Trez is 32, it's not surprising he's getting injured so often.
It's kinda obvious that it is.I don't know but it doesn't matter because these injuries are repetitive.Injuries are misdiagnosed & not treated correctly. Are you honestly trying to say that we don't have an issue with our medical staff?

How old is Drogba? How often was he injured for Chelsea?

How old is Van der Saar? How often was he injured for Man Utd?

Age is a lame excuse to use here, sure its a factor but it doesn't determine whether a player can continue to play or not.

But that's just guessing.

When our strikers get the ball there's simply nothing to see but us struggling.
You mean on the one or two times the ball has been suplied to them?

When Juve has built up the play excruciatingly slowly and so the opposition is back in position to crowd out the forwards?

I'm not saying the strikers aren't a problem, but I consider the defence and the supply to the forwards to be bigger problems which should be addressed before spending money on a new striker or two.

I agree, I fail to see diego playing well untill we get some wingers around him, untill then he'll be easily stopped, predictable and stranded.
Once we get some quality wingers in he'll have tons of support and he'll be able to spring up anywhere.

Really the trequartisa role is almost completely defunct in modern football unless you put him in a system that uses wingers and has enough muscle and depth in midfield, namely a 4-2-3-1.

Van der Saar is a GK and I don't see your point. Some players are injury prone and some aren't. Some become when they age.

I never said we have a good medical staff. As far as I know we got a new doctor at the begging of this season and nothing better happened when it came to injuries. If we're going to keep Trez and plan to use him next season as a stater, our main goal scorer machine, we're going to rely on doctors to cure his injuries?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but he gets injured we'll not be able to score ANY goal, no matter how our defense strong is. We'll be playing 0-0 always.

I would sell Iaquinta.

Keep DP and Trez and buy who? If those two start next season matches we'll not win anything. Buying 2 new strikers would cost a fortune and we have a lot more problems to deal with this summer, like defense.
If we fix our more demanding issues, like defense and midfield, starting DP/Trez will not be a handicap. Even this season we scored a fair share of goals, problem is we conceded about the same amount. This age business is getting on my nerves honestly, people have been saying DP is over for 5 years yet he keeps going. Same goes for Trez, yet between them they scored over 40 goals 2 seasons ago. Then last year Trez had surgery, DP again scored over 15 goals. Now Trezeguet in this crap season and shit team, with limited playing time already has 10 goals...more than both Amauri and Iaquinta.

These two as long as they have the will to play will be good for us, they are proven class and don't go crap over night. I'm all for buying new young, fast, mobile forwards...but selling Trezeguet at this time will brings us what exactly? 1 million + the stay of one non-scoring forward, out of Amauri and Iaquinta. Fuck that. Sell both of them.

Who to buy? I don't know. Depends on the budget we will have, but my first pick would be Jovetic. I'd swap him for Amauri and Iaquinta, both.

would be more like this, right?

Cáceres-Subotic-Chiellini-Kolarov

Melo-Marchisio

Hazard-Diego-Ribery
Dzeko

It's to expensive, but i think this can provide us results.
What is that 35 for the defense, 20 for Hazard 45 for Ribery and 40 for Dzeko = 140

Forget Dzeko and Ribery, Di Maria for 25M and Candreva for 7 instead of Hazard that is 67 - sales. That is realistic. Take in another classy player depending on sales, and lets splash really big on striker next season....

I don't think the problem is particularly with the strikers' conversion rate.

The problem is that not enough chances are being created.

Compared to the amount of chances we create, we actually score quite a lot of goals.

, saved me some typing.

We obviously have to rejuvenate our attacking force, no doubt about it. But I'd rather keep hold of the best elements.
Plus, even selling one of Iaq/Amauri would bring us some real money imo.
