Playing 4-2-3-1 without a decent goal scorer as the centre forward would be foolish, in my not very humble opinion.
I'm with Fred on this one. Anyone from that midfield five can score, Amauri as well. As long as the CF can draw the CBs out of position, and thus open spaces for the midfielders, it should work.

Actually, my (Slovak) NT played that way. Our CFs scored only 4 of the 22 goals we scored, while our right winger scored 6.

As for the striker, Man City is after Torres so that leaves us with Dzeko and Kuranyi.

Dzeko has 40mln release clause. I hope we don't sign any player for that amount now, especially a striker.

While on the other hand Kuranyi is free as you probably know but Dynamo Moscow is ready to offer 5mln/year for him so we should forget that idea.

How much would you say he is worth Dus?

If he's worth say €4m and that's how much extra in wages we'd have to pay to meet Dynamo then it's worth it no?

It's not IMO.

He's nothing more than an average striker in my books. Very good sub for top clubs but we shouldn't even consider him because those wages are just huge.

I've never seen him play so I was wondering.

Dzeko, cash + player maybe? Wolfsburg are worse than us this year too, he may be tempted.

It's complicated.

We need one great striker who can bang in goals, like Dzeko. But on the other hand getting a striker should be the last thing we do. There are many other positions which we need to fix asap. They may accept some offer but we'd have to offer around 28mln euros and some decent player (no idea, like Poulsen). Other clubs will go after him so there are chances that they could refuse even that and get 35mln in cash.

He's a good player but he shouldn't be our priority anyhow. Defense and wingers is what we need.

With how reports on Benitez are going and the rumours of a 4-4-2 I think We`ll end up like this

---------DP Dzeko
Silva Marchisio Melo Camoranesi
Criscito Chiellini Kjaer Sagna
------------Buffon

DP will do rotations with Diego
Sissoko Melo and Marchisio 2 of the 3 will be in the starting 11
We might get Torres instead but it is more likely that we get Dzeko

Ofcourse we will also get decent subs for the winger role as we have no one currently
