Because he is here, he is free and he is all we need atm.
Someone young enough to sit on the bench and promising enough to take a better role in the future!

No need to waste time and money on looking for other midfielders in the next 2-3 years. We need to fix our defense and start looking for the Treze+DP replacements now...

agreed on all points there Fred, except one

for me Xabi Alonso is more of a DM with the passing range of a Pirlo style playmaker, taht said Liverpool have highlighted that Mascherano desperately needs that sort fo player beside him to offload the ball to as his game is all about ball winning

funnt that no-one mentioned Yaya Toure though

How is he a DM though? His ball winning capabilities aren't special, he's a decent tackler, but not special there either. He plays deep, but is not really a DM. I'd say him and Pirlo are similar players, with maybe Pirlo being more skillful and dynamic.

Did I say that?

Ledesma sucks, even for a back-up.
Ledesma is not good enough to be a week in week out starter for any top team. But your being too hard on him by saying he'd suck even for a backup.

Is he not a better option than Tiago or Poulsen

No, I wouldn't keep them and no I wouldn't buy Ledesma. For the next season we don't have to touch our midfield (for starting XI) and our attack may depend on Trez situation. We are not in debts so we have to sell 2 players and buy one for free.

What type of player is he?

In my eyes he's one of the most limited players. The only thing he's decent at would be long range shooting.

We'd need someone like D'Agostino and Ledesma is not that.
He's got a decent passing range too, can spray the ball around really well. He and D'Agostino are similar players even if the latter is probably better.

For a decent price, and if he was ok with being a backup, i say he'd be a very good signing.

Fanni could join Juve, says agent

The agent of Rennes and France international right-back Rod Fanni says his client could join Juventus in the future although negotiations will be tough.

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco was at the Stade de France on Wednesday to take a closer look at Fanni during a World Cup qualifier with Austria.

However, Didier Six, the player's agent, believes a deal won't happen in January and warns that Juventus will face serious competition for his client.

“I am aware of Juventus' interest, and even if the Italian media are speaking about it purely after seeing the presence of Alessio Secco at the France-Austria game, we are not talking about a novelty,” Six told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“However, that said I have not had any direct contact with the Bianconeri. Moreover I think it would be very difficult to underwrite a deal.

“English and Spanish clubs also like the player. If he were to leave I don't think that it could happen in the next transfer session, and, in any case, Rennes are one of the more financially solid teams in the French championship.

“Dealing with them is not a simple piece of business,” Fanni concluded.

Do u know anything about this guy, Fred ??
I think Fanni would be a very good option. He has been steadily improving for three years now, every season he becomes better than the first. I like him very much, and believe he will become a very good fullback. imo he can make it at the top level. Strong solid player, decent pace and very good going forward. Would not be a bad option at all.

And thus there is absolutely no need to change them, they are here and they are decent enough to sit on our bench.
I don't see how having a terrible midfielder sit on the bench and cost us more than 6 million euros a season in wages is a good idea.

Fuck Fanni-pack, go for someone with considerable quality who is younger. Fanni-pack is a late bloomer at 27 years old.
27 is not old at all. besides who would you recommend that is actually good? Alves, Maicon, Bosingwa, Sagna and Santon are not exactly available here.

Fanni or Lichsteiner for me.

I've seen him play a couple times, obviously not enough, but a guy who is already 27, with just a few French caps, and still at Rennes seems a bit suspect to me.

Much rather go for Lichty.
