You can say that for a lot of things. The world as a whole is far better off today than it was 50 or even 100 years ago. That's an undeniable fact. Does that mean that the world today can't get any better and that people should shut up because even though they have it "bad" people before them had it worse? Probably not. Striving for the better no matter what culture is what makes a society humane. Trust me I hear Chinese people when they say that today is better than the feudal years of pre-1949, but that's should be the end all for their evolution as far as rights, privileges, and the pursuit of happiness go.
true, but that doesnt mean people from different culture share the same definition of happiness, you cann't just force people to accept what you believe by saying "you are wrong because I know better than you do" or some sort like that

Stop Loss? It's a law that allows the government to re-enlist soldiers after their time is up. The thing about it is that a stop loss isn't always final and that you can fight it and speak out against it without ending up in jail. And if Steven Spielberg made a movie showing the controversies of American society it certainly wouldn't be censored or banned from the US. The same thing goes for books and movies.
I think I will be hesitate to put youtube on the list

Sure you shouldn't push ideals on someone or force them to do something or live a certain way. At the same time there is nothing wrong with letting people know that there is a better way or an easier way to do something or to live. It's just as bad to leave a people in the dark as it is to force ideals and customs down their throat. When a government begins to censor and force it's own rhetoric it becomes tyrannical and I think we can all agree that tyranny is bad.

Your ignorance is rather laughable. We "get a chance to disappoint ourselves once every 4 years". Sounds to me like someone has been living in a tyrannical state. If you want to reword things that's fine, but your point is lost with your poetics. The truth is that in the US there is a chance to change things through elections, we have local election which allow us to vote on how we deal with our taxes and a lot of other things you don't know about. You seem to have an ironic understanding of the presidential election which happens ever four years. Actually we have some sort of elect just about every year. How many elections does China have annually? Find the answer and you know the difference between the two countries.

Thats what your government doing right now.

IMO, no one could decide which way is better or which is easier, only the history will tell.

China, this country has been struggled for more than 150 years between to line of live or death, until the PR China been founded. According to the past tragical experience, the Chinese people have enough reason to distrust the western world including its political faith and system, even we might admit that yours are better

why I mentioned youtube?
see for yourself

I don't think I have ever condoned my governments actions as far as imperialism goes. With a approval rating of 28%, I think it's obvious that the country is no longer fond of this administration.

You mentioned youtube so you could show a Fox News clip? I still don't get it.

tbh, as I am a non American, I can only judge your country from a big picture. Your government abused their authorities which granted by your people to start an unethical war and these actions really disappointed your people, thats the impression I've got for past few years.

Yes, maybe I know nothing about how your local elections would change your life but I assume that you would not look into the China's constitutions very carefully either

every system has its defects, I think attacking each others flaws is not the way of making friends and developing yourself

the video you saw had been censored for a while, I think I can call it a soft censorship, but still the authorities in US has its limitation and tolerance, regardless its about free speech or not
