As a Liverpool fan, I must say a lot of what my mate Seye said was very true. The way that Chelsea is doing things right now is so different from what the likes of Shankly did to Liverpool, or what (with all hateness to myself to mention this example) Ferguson did to Man U. They went through the stages of an evolution to reach the highest stages of football. What Shankly did for Liverpool was make them not just 18 times League winners (record), 6 FA Cup champs, 7 FA League Cup champs (record), 4 European titles and 3 UEFA Cups, not to mention other symbolic titles the team have won since this man took over the team in 1959. What makes us, the Liverpool fans, angry is that, some "Russian investor" has showed up out of nowhere and wanted to build a title-winning team within a west London club like Chelsea that won the title only once, exactly 50 years ago. For me, I was an admirer of Chelsea, they had some good players like Gianfranco Zola and Didier Deschamps whom I really respected, as the team (back then) showed the evolution type of performace. But in one sudden, this team have brought in tons of football stars into the club, with unlimited funds and no borders what so ever, just to bring the title !!!...
Okay, he’s (Abramovich) may be a Chelsea fan (which I completely doubt), or may be he’s into Blue teams (which is also another matter of doubt) but how come you want to build a history without the evolution?!! ... In Liverpool, fans grew up loving what they saw already from the likes of Kennedy, Hansen, Dalglish, Souness, and even the ancient players like Bob Paisley himself and Billy Liddle. But in Chelsea, what was so important about the team if they never even came across that huge step which we call in general (REAL FOOTBALL)... it’s when you enjoy watching every single moment of it. The whole squad will be buzzing, and the players will be on their toes ready to give their performances that will make them not only great, but legends to their fans, and their club’s fans. I for one have respected - and still respect - what a player can do once he works as hard as he can to give his team that extra momentum to reach the stage of Real Football, that player deserves more and more applause than - sometimes - the manager for making things come into reality. But in Chelsea all what I saw in the last two summers, that a team that hardly had greater run than 3rd in the Premier League are buying every single player the critics believe is a professional star. Millions of pounds thrown out to players who in some cases don’t deserve even half the money paid for them. I’m not denying the fact that they are great talented stars, but they never came across the evolution part, which is something that will make things come back to earth once it’s over. Anyways, "What comes fast, GOES fast" ... their glory is coming up sooner or later, they’ve paid a lot of money that I don’t think will last forever. It’s only a matter of business to Abramovich, just doing "business". Once it’s all done, things may come back to normal, or even worse... One simple look at the League Championship and you’ll see another "White" : victims to something that was far less than what’s going
on now. I just hope that whatever is happening is only helping the cause of REAL FOOTBALL, something we as fans are hardly seeing, thanks to the endless zeros after the ONE the likes of Chelsea has. I’m not being against anyone, but the ones who are against the true football we wish to have every weekend.
