Truth to be told the Super12 could have acted strategically better and spare this circus and drama. They could have made a statement first by explaining how their chiefs wasted almost two years speaking to uefa officials about changes, reforms and new modern approach, presented ideas and solutions they felt was of great and urgent importance only to hit a stone wall and find no common ground with them on anything (like what Man city mentioned in their site I shared yesterday), and as a result starting from 2021/2022 season those clubs will not take part in any uefa competition even if they qualify for them. Instead they agreed to play vs each other in a separate league they created where their vision, ideas and new modern approach would be met and they feel that this is the way football should evolve and move forward, unlike uefa, who insist on doing it the way they want. Those clubs, along with few others, are the ones who generate what, 90% of all the income, why shouldn't they receive a bigger slice of the pie or more importantly why should they share like half of it with some fat pencil pushers that sit on their ass all day, do nothing and benefits from the whole operation year after year?

They are unhappy with what uefa offers them and as a result they quit and will try to do it themselves as noone, absolutely noone can make them do something they don't want to do. You can't argue with that, it's your right, if you are unhappy with your job you quit, if you're unhappy in your marriage you get divorce, if you qualified for the Olympics but they make you get a vaccine to participate in it and you don't want to do that then you just don't go to the Olympics, etc...

Now they have the public opinion against them and some of them might eventually get cold feet and fold. Either way, a league tournament with top clubs qualifying for the 1/8 finals and so on instead of current and especially future CL seems like a thousand times better idea and I hope it happens sooner or later...

It has been reported that Atletico also intends to leave
Chelsea and City are considering exiting the Super League
Some Spanish media have reported that Barça does not want to participate in the Super League

So... why did they sign the contract then?

You can't blame Agnelli and Perez for wanting to change things, especially if they had buy-in from the other clubs.

How can they even announce such huge news and then let it collapse after two days. This backlash of the fans should have been expected.
Was it just an aggressive way to get a better deal from the UEFA?
