Florentino Perez: The contract is binding, nobody can leave, there aren’t any problems between any of the clubs, everything is signed and agreed.
I wonder if this binding contract is also binding with the underwriting by JPM. If it is, then this is probably over with unless they want to breach a contract with a large investment firm.

What if Netflix releases a statement tomorrow given the overwhelmingly negative traction this story is gaining?
Everybody have started to take a stand and the media is doing everything to bury this concept.

In the end, someone will end up being the scapegoat and I fear it's going to be Agnelli.
but really thats not how businesses operate. in the end its about money. this deal will make money and a company will step in. have no doubt.

amazon is not one to take moral high ground. neither are people . people still buy nike, addidas, amazon, nestle and apple products despite the slave labor, horrible working conditions they use. but now you want to tell me that a closed football league that hurts no one is a deal breaker? give me a break. people will forget and move on. it's all about money in the end. there is no moral high ground.

If this doesn't go through I expect the start of golden era of the PL clubs in Europe + P$G.
They are going to be so far ahead, financial wise by the end of the decade so much that the CL is going to become a joke.

you make some good points but really thats not how businesses operate. in the end its about money. this deal will make money and a company will step in. have no doubt.

pretty sure perez and co have thought of that. Those leagues won’t survive without these clubs. Why would any company invest in them?
Never gonna happen. Because contracts with broadcasters certainly would have same kind of clause that would make it void or at very least they would need to renegotiate terms in case of change of circumstances. Banning the clubs simply wont fly, no matter what media or officials are saying.

No idea how we would pull out of current gutter as our finances are a mess. Ive avoided more in depth reading juve's reports over the last 2 seasons because its too depressing.

Worst case. The 12 will open their own channel.

These games will want to be watched and will be watched no matter what anyone says or does.

Liverpool players have already come out in the open and said no. If more number of players take a stand, then there's nowhere to hide.

“Our members and fans reject a Super League,” said Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer.

“As FC Bayern, it is our wish and our aim that European clubs live the wonderful and emotional competition that is the Champions League, and develop it together with UEFA. FC Bayern say no to the Super League.”

CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: “On behalf of the board, I would like to make it explicitly clear that FC Bayern will not be taking part in the Super League.

“FC Bayern stands in solidarity with the Bundesliga. It always was and is a great pleasure for us to be able to play and represent Germany in the Champions League.

“We all remember fondly our 2020 Champions League victory in Lisbon – you don’t forget such a joyful moment. For FC Bayern, the Champions League is the best club competition in the world.”

And who would watch those leagues without all the big teams? The money, interest and prestige would evaporate from all big leagues. Given the choice i guess most teams in serie a , spain and epl would pray for the big teams to stay

It doesnt even need to come to that to be come an issue for them. This is a PR war at this point, and the mere threat of banned from domestic leagues (NTs is just grand standing IMO, but domestic leagues can be a real threat) becoming remotely close to official, can sway the resolve of some of these clubs. I'm pretty sure the Spanish and Italian clubs are all in (tho if truly banned from r Serie A, I would find it hard to see any of them being ok with pursuing this).

But the English clubs? They are the most image concious of all, if the heavy backlash and threats at home of expulsion increases in pressure levels, I would see them as the first to buckle and back out. And even with El classico duo still there, this shit would never ever work without the viewership power of the English clubs.

And yeah you can have 12 popular teams in an artificial super league together, but if the backlash is so heavy and anti the venture, and they are shunned from other venues, it will hurt their image and bottomline enough for them to seriously consider if this was really a sound venture. I wonder if the focus grouped this, and what their responses was lol.

Good luck to them. They can become best pals with Uefa.

In current day and age I dont think broadcasting and making SL accessible to masses will be an issue though.
I am mainly concerned about how aggressive the British media are being to clamp down on these ESL teams and bury the whole project. If all these large conglomerates, governments etc get involved and chime on this 'issue', sooner or later, the cracks will start to appear.
This backlash is unprecedented. And we are in the middle of a pandemic. Just think about it.
