Dude, even with zero competitiveness Juve-Real is more entertaining than a merited Porto-Monaco CL final.

Just sheer number of their fans/followers worldwide and them playing just for bragging rights alone will get more attention, more entertainment, and crazy activity online and offline.
But but but Atalanta getting robbed by UEFA refs against real Madrid makes a nice story according to Cefarin, more of it please he says!

Euros acting like North American leagues aren’t competitions and European football is

Exact opposite in fact. European football hasn’t been competitive in over a decade and has been all about style and money over substance.
Only in your disturbed mind NA competitions are more competitive than these in Europe. GTFO of here and watch your NFL and NBA garbage.

The biggest issue I have with it is this: in football it's a universal dream to have your hometown club evolve to playing on the biggest stage of all.

That dream is now being taken away by people who were clearly inspired by the NFL and the NBA.

Football is not like that. In football you fight for your spot each year.

It's arguably why it's the biggest sport of all and the sport of the people.

Change FIFA. Change UEFA. But don't let the Agnellis of the world hijack a sport. Don't let them install a new system of nobility.

Care to give me an example of a single club in the last 30 or 40 years that came from a small town/city in the provinces and went on to become the European champion? A single one?

To play at the biggest stage, not necessarily to win the CHL.

30 years ago Red Star won the chl tho. In 03-04 Deportivo reached the semi finals, Porto won the CHL, FC Copenhagen reached the RO16, Ajax rekt Madrid and Juventus in 2018 etc. Those things mean the world to the local fans and is the very essence of the sport.

How happy were we when we won that first Conte scudetto? In 5 years the league will mean fuck-all. Club might be getting richer, but we're getting poorer.

But they always said there would be a few spots each year for outside qualifiers... it was just the 15 main clubs that would be a part each year.
God, that is so fucking retarded

This.

I simply can't digest the fact that my hometown team won't be able to play against those teams EVER. And yes, my hometown team is quite poor and does poorly. But same team managed to beat Liverpool and play draw against Napoli. And same team managed to win the whole thing 30 years ago.

Also, the worst thing in how this is self proclaimed league, where you have some random teams appear to be in it, but not some better teams. Not just that, but majority of teams can't even get relegated.

It's such a stupid thing.

The Bayern, PSG part seems like lies to save face, for sure they've been involved at least at the early discussions, but the rest more or less made sense to me, what else did you find to be lies, misinformation and delusions?
Being involved in early stages doesn't mean getting eventually invited to the real deal. Even UEFA prez was caught off guard.

Yeah, as a Euro guy who grew up with this culture I can only say that I share identical thoughts with you.
