True. And to be honest I see more benefits for poorer clubs than problems. The richer clubs can from their bigger budget pay more for those clubs to buy their players

I have just finished reading the Perez interview. LOL. It is full of lies, misinformation and delusions. I do not buy even for a second this guy believes even half the crap he shared in this propaganda piece.

Its nonsense, false narrative. One side will simply lose their monopoly. Backlash from media is expected, especially british one. Their product will lose a lot of its value. Both sides are money driven but the other side doesnt conceil it or hide behind working class, grassrots, tradition etc...

I see that 'us vs them' mentality thriving in this forum. The real question is how and why do we need that change? So far despite the lack of 'revenues' and catastrophic losses the value of these same clubs is higher than ever before. There is a real market for them too. But competition is getting stronger and they need guarantees. Great for the sport...

Players wouldn't like it either. And they hold most of the power.

I know what you mean. It does kill the 4th place rush for clubs that are in it. Either they win the league title or in the last couple rounds of domestic season there is little to play for. Teams like Lazio, Atalanta etc really get screwed over. Even if they still have a small chance of playing their way into the 4-5 rotating spots, that chance is greatly reduced.

but I suppose this whole situation is about the big clubs leveraging their power to secure that financial stability. That is the main reason for the move so it won't be negotiable.

Maybe they can expand the spots for eligible qualifying sides? It doesn't need to be Juve - Madrid every week. Juve - Ajax is still

Think of it this way: this change is a total upgrade compared to what we have now.

Super league will be better for Juve then CL in every sense (more top matches, more fans, more revenue...).

As for Serie A, we will probably stay there and the good thing is that it's getting more competitive. This season proved it. That is good for us, even if we wont win Scudetto this year (as strange as it sounds). They should definitely shorten the league to 18 clubs (maybe even more), but even if they don't, there's still going to be a fight for Scudetto.

All in all, next year will be extra exciting for us. It will help this club grow, including our players.

Closed shop format >>> current CL and the "reformed" CL, at least for me. For sure in an idealistic world there's another option that's better, but there's no one that's really looking out for the football and has any leverage to implement stuff

Most of it is lies. The clubs probably signed a letter of intent and can easily back out if they want to.

Sure buddy. It can't be much worse anyway. We were knocked out by Porto (praise the lord they are not invited in this uber league and thankfully we have a 'legacy' seat, maybe even a trophy?), there were NO fans in the stands whatsoever (surely to improve, unless COVID-20) and we are about to experience revenues for zero tituli. Nevermind that others (non-super) teams, that just kicked us in the nuts (like Atalanta) might feel they are too scummy to play with the 'chosen people'. That would result in us being kicked out of Seria A and deservedly so = not so many matches, after all.

Even the name is pompous. Super League with a cast of legacy misfits...Tottenham and Arsenal the perrenial winners? Won't even include us out of respect, but we deserve to be laughed out loud. Can't win CL, create your own trophy then...

You're sure most of it is lies and as an example use a "probably" argument? I'm sure everyone in the 12 expected the backlash, it'd make sense if they signed a more bonding document considering the amounts JP is lending to the SuperLeague.

The financial problems need to be solved, of course. It might be good to move away from corrupt organisations like UEFA. It will also be good for teams outside the EPL to have more high-profile games. But this format is terrible.

It is better because there'd be 20 top teams playing each other not like the current CL format where in the groupstage there are 12-14 top teams, 4-8 watchable teams and 10-12 nobodies. You have close to a 100 games in the group-stage who most of the times don't even matter, that's just plain bad.

And it doesn't have the strongest teams, not even close. Both Ferencvaros and Dynamo Kyiv we faced in CL this season would risk relegation in Serie A and that's not a freak CL group, half of the groups in CL have 2 absolute nobody teams an average fan couldn't name more than 2 players from (me personally I couldn't name a single player even after watching 2 games each this season).

It's not lending anything until it happens. Did you check the Juve official statement? They can't guarantee it will happen. We are the only ones saying that because only we wre a public company.

Just because they expected backlash doesn't mean they expected this much backlash. We'll see what happens.

At this point I hope some kind of compromise will be reached where they say 6 EPL, 4 Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga teams, 2 Ligue 1, 1 Dutch and 1 Portuguese teams qualify based on domestic league position and the rest of the European top division champions play qualifications for 6-8 more places.

Scrap FFP completely and replace it with salary caps/ wage bill caps, transfer fee caps or just swaps and so on.

Decrease the number of domestic league games significantly. Get rid of the domestic cups.

Eliminate all international breaks. Maybe play a short one month qualifiying tournament during the summer of odd numbered years.

An even better option might to have a European League with first, second, maybe even third division, with relegation and promotion and a cup competition. That should replace CL and national leagues and cups for the participating teams. The lower levels can still be played nationally and the winners get promoted to the Euro League lowest division. That would be the best for Juve but it's not hapenning.
