Is this any good? Got it as a present.

i will eb honest V-man i aint ever heard of this one. there are some nice blends like chivas regal, the famous grouse and j+b so it could be ok but i honsestly have never seen this before never mind try it

Single malt is kind of overrated, i mean yes, there is a difference, of the so called "original aromas"
but if you ignore the process, sometimes you would prefer a green label, blended malt, Johnnie over some certain exotic aromas of a single malt. Best value/money = Cardhu, but its kind of rare in my part of the world...
cronios mate i respect you ina lot of ways but johnny walker is pish! nobody in scotland drinks it, we sell that shit to the tourists, literally we honestly do.

do not get me wrong there are a few blended whiskys that are ok but each and every malt has its own unique flavour, aroma and taste on the pallate. not that i am an expert mind i just love the stuff:malt:

According to this article, for the 12 year old blend, mine's 15 years old, it should be pretty good. "The fourth largest blended Deluxe Scotch whisky in the world" sounds pretty good. I think I'll save it for some occasion and suppres the curiousity in me. Got it straight from Glasgow.

I m sure that you will convince me when i ll visit Scotland:p
I respect your point of view too and i m sure you are right about this,
BUT from my point of view, the financial issue isnt smth that shouldnt be considered.
All i wanted to say, is that green label is better than your above mentioned 15yo commercial whiskeys and not that expensive, but i guess everybody has his tastes.
The commercial single malt i ve tried, IMO are very overpriced for what they offer.
A wealthy doctor gave me a shot of a single malt, highland Glen smth,
his favorite, witch cost him a few hundred euros and i wasnt really impressed. Maybe i had some high expectations, maybe because i prefer older whiskeys no matter if they are blended or single
or just because of the fact, that i was used with the cheap ones. Dont know but i wouldnt pay that money for that and i do not considered it better, just because its more expensive or supposed to be pure.
I preferred Cardhu, single (best drink i ever tried, it left a sweet burnt to my palate, smth like drinking pure alcohol) or blended, but again i wouldnt pay 5-10 times the money, for the single version. In Greece its almost impossible to find it and in Romania, it doesnt exist...and even if you do find it,
it is considered smth exotic and it usually is overpriced...
I m sure that moving to the north would make it easier to find and cheaper to buy. But from my point of view it doesnt worth the effort, since i rarely drink indoors anyway...
If i had your choices, i would probably had another opinion too, i m anxious to try a special Scotish Whiskey that never made it out of the country some time before i die though
and i take your word that it might worth of the effort and the money:malt:
If i grow too old before i get the chance i ll have it, mailed over here!
Any recommendations, whats your favorite?

I don't know why the Scots haven't heard of Dimple, it's quite known for me. It is one of the finest blend whiskeys, I class it close to Chivas Regal but still we are talking a lower quality whiskey than single malts. You might enjoy it, I recommend apple slices as snacks to accompany it.

Then again, Jhonnie Walker Green Label is a single malt whiskey from the big producer and thus it qualifies to be the worst single malt out of guessing and out f experience. I never had a malt that I wouldn't finish my glass. Jhonnie's black succeeded in doing that.

Boz, my latest victims are highly recommended Springbank 15 and Speyside 15

    Cheers :malt:

Chivas? Than this is gonna be great for me. :lick: Chivas is probably the best whiskey I have ever tried, though I haven't tried a lot of them truth be told. Single malt, blend, TBH I have no idea what's the difference, it's all whiskey to me.

As their name says, single malts are a single malt, blends are a blend of malts.

the 15 year old that i have, writes Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, i wasnt aware of the single malt variation! I prefer this than Dimple or Grouse (witch is pretty good too) and its almost as good as Chivas, if not better

How much did you paid for those victims?

    I paid 45 € for the Springbank and 38 € for the Speyside. Most expensive I paid was 53 € for a Highland Park 15 and cheapest was a Jura 10 for 28 €

@cronios- i have to say i would not pay those prices either, whisky is vastly overpriced overseas but is readily available here.

what i can do for you is next time i am in pitlochry i will get another wee bottle of Edradour(ok jack 2). i sent jack one last year and he liked it very much, its very special as it is the smallers distillery in scotland, they produce ina year what the big places do ina week, its impossible to find in scotland, enevr mind abroad but it is exquisite. i have a sauterns finish and a super tuscan finish and it is absolutely gorgeous

    Laphroig is nice.

I had some Delwhinnie over Christmas. I don't know what I am expecting tomorrow but there was talk of a bottle that came from Scotland last week.

Scotch whisky is my best friend. You should go for either Higland Park or the more smoked Talisker. Cheers
    I new connoisseur :malt:

I like the Highland Park 15 very much. I had a bottle that I finished a couple of months ago. Last week we were working on a Dalwhinnie 15 which is pretty similar to the Highland Park which I would still prefer.

I am starting to fancy more smoked bottles now that's why I am planning on getting me a nice Ardbeg.
