I saw the mars volta open for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers at GM place, here in Van.
They were pretty fucking awesome - but the Chilli's live performance was basically unrivaled for me to date. Incredibly clean, lots of good, impromptu funk.
At the end of the concert, the Mars Volta came out and jammed with RHCP for about 20 minutes. Frusciante and the guitarist for Mars did some really cool improvisational soloing... I think the bands get along really well, because they were having a ton of fun. A great show all around...
