The reason Inter do not win (1 Viewer)

I was watching the TIM Trophy tonight and as I witnessed Inter winning it for the 4th time (out of 5), it suddenly dawned on me why they never win (hardly even contend) for the biggest trophies. It's not Moratti's obsessive spending, it's not a new coach every season, it's not even signing more forwards than needed to staff the top half of the table.

They simply peak too early in the season. July is not a good time to peak, it's still pre-season. Yet Inter always start with a bang and then inevitably it's all down hill.

So simple and yet so crippling.

This is a very good observation, probably their success in the transfer campaign and these summer trophies gives them over confidence that fades when the real competition starts.

Early success begets complacency? Good theory, Martin.

Of course, it's easier to claim you're in first place when there haven't been any real matches. :D

As you can see, this water tight theory also explains why Interisti are notoriously optimistic at this stage of the season, everything is going their way. :)

The Coppa Italia is actually called the TIM Cup, so in fact they have won back-to-back TIM titles

boy the title of this thread sure looks silly now..

Inter can't play good when it counts. When it's just a friendly, no money involved, just playing around, they have no pressure and do better.

    I think.

Serie A's big sponsor is TIM. Much like Barclay is for the EPL. But there isn't a TIM "Scudetto" as far as I can tell...

That would really look ugly. A scudetto with a small TIM logo on it.

Come to think of it, the TIM Trophy is just a publicity stunt, it's not a legitimate competition and it has no historical value. So the trophy they actually get could just as well be a box of cell phones, one for each player, with a TIM subscription..
