I had such bad image in my head for a moment: every time, when they will be playing national anthem for a winner, it will be chinese anthem, and next to chinese winner, there will be two another chinese: 2nd and 3rd place...

Hey -- I say if the Chinese earned them, good for them. I don't think that necessarily puts Beijing 2008 in the league of Berlin 1936.

I do think they're going to put on a spectacular show. You could see the kind of rich pageantry they're already showing in the closing ceremonies in Athens last night.

I just still know that some over-earnest gesture or two is going to go completely over the heads of the rest of the world's athletes. It's going to be entertaining to say the least.

But hey -- I've always been more of a Winter Olympics fan myself. I wonder what stadium they're going to use in Torino 2006 for the big ceremonies. Anyone?

RE: Paul Hamm. Sorry, Paul, but you do not deserve the Gold medal. The error by the judge was not a judgemental error, but a mathematical one. Therefore, you should not have won the Gold. The classy thing would have been to relinquish the medal. Not only would you have saved face, but you would have been known as one of the classiest athletes in olympic history, and you would have needed lawyers to watch over the lawyers who would have been handling your endorsement deals for the next decade. Instead, you come off as a spoiled little brat. Good job, chief.
