I predict already now that the 2008 games will be fantastic. The Chinese can make more or less anything happen when they really want it, due to their metanlity and resources. Just look at how they've managed to improve their athletes, and it isn't 2008 yet.

Meenwhile, according to the lists I've seen Norway beat Sweden, Denmark and Finland in the medals tally. What's up with, we didn't even compete on snow! Magnus, Calle, Art, Poku, what happened? ;)
You beat us?!

Well, we are the third best nation in track and field. Better than both Germany and France who didn't get asingle gold medal.

That's why I'm afraid of that: everything will be fantasic, the best, great.
And I think that everything will be TOO fantastic etc.

And also: I've read, that they plan to gather 80% medals in Beijing.
I had such bad image in my head for a moment: every time, when they will be playing national anthem for a winner, it will be chinese anthem, and next to chinese winner, there will be two another chinese: 2nd and 3rd place...
Hey -- I say if the Chinese earned them, good for them. I don't think that necessarily puts Beijing 2008 in the league of Berlin 1936.

I do think they're going to put on a spectacular show. You could see the kind of rich pageantry they're already showing in the closing ceremonies in Athens last night.

I just still know that some over-earnest gesture or two is going to go completely over the heads of the rest of the world's athletes. It's going to be entertaining to say the least.

But hey -- I've always been more of a Winter Olympics fan myself. I wonder what stadium they're going to use in Torino 2006 for the big ceremonies. Anyone?

I remember that huge Olympic torch with water, Ian Thorpe and Australian relays, and that guy from Mozambiqueor somewhere, who was about to drown, when he was swimming 100 metres, remember him? :D

I think he was nicknamed Eric the eel or something like that :D

My 2 cents on the Olympics from an American's point of view.

RE: THe US basketball team, check out "Nick against the World" in the rookie forum because quite frankly, I don't feel like typing it again.

RE: Paul Hamm. Sorry, Paul, but you do not deserve the Gold medal. The error by the judge was not a judgemental error, but a mathematical one. Therefore, you should not have won the Gold. The classy thing would have been to relinquish the medal. Not only would you have saved face, but you would have been known as one of the classiest athletes in olympic history, and you would have needed lawyers to watch over the lawyers who would have been handling your endorsement deals for the next decade. Instead, you come off as a spoiled little brat. Good job, chief.

Exactly what I said at the time of the incident.

Now take all those views and think of it all from the point of a Korean, and you have one very pissed off nation of sports fans :fero:

Just wait till we play you guys in the World Cup again, remember the ice-skating celebration? Okay, maybe that was a bit un-classy, but it was pretty hilarious IMO

Sorry, man. I'm not a sissy. Unless porn stars are performing on ice, that's the closest I get to Ice skating :D

oh, not the actual ice-skating; when Ahn Jung Hwan scored against the States at World Cup 2002, the players imitated speed skaters in reference to the medal they were robbed of at the Winter Olympics ;)

Korean midfielder Ahn Jung-hwan's gesturing as if ice-skating after scoring the equalizer against the United States is being rated as the best goal celebration in this year's World Cup so far, an online poll underway at the tournament's official website showed Monday.

Ahn's celebration received 38 percent, or 4,756 votes, in the online poll by FIFAworldcup.com in which a total of 12,214 people cast votes so far.

Ahn's celebration parodied a Winter Olympics controversy earlier this year where U.S. skater Apolo Anton Ohno won the gold medal in a short-track race by allegedly faking a foul that disqualified Korea's Kim Dong-sung, who crossed the finish line first.

Gray, Korea is the ONE nation that cannot complain about anything. How many World Cup games were fixed in their favor? Disallowed game-winning goals by Italy and Spain in the knock-out rounds??? And Korea wants to complain about sporting irregularities. LOL.
