Man.. we are a club team. We can't just have mediocre italian players. To compete with the best we need to have the best players if they are italian or not..

Players like Del Piero, Chiellini and Buffon are not at Juve just cuz they are Italian... they are great players.. Marco was a good player but not a great one so it is better to get a great player like Melo

It is about making the team better not the demographics better.
it is true... but not only of the Brazilian players are the best. especially Felipe.
I think.

It's too early to judge this transfer. Lets wait a while and see how will the negotiations for Felipe Melo develop. Only then we can give the final judgement.

In case this transfer isn't connected at all with a potential transfer of Melo to Juve then we can say that it was an ok deal. Nothing special and nothing bad.

Marco is a player we now don't need at all. He spent almost two seasons injured and in the third season he got more playing time but had a bad season. He is 29 and he has only 2 years left on his contract.
Realistically, his fair price would now be something around 5m euro and not many teams would gamble with him. Even if some team decided to take a gamble and buy the full rights from Juve, that team would've wanted to pay less than Marco's market price. Imo, the most we could get from him were some 4m euro.
But it looks like no team wanted to take a gamble and what we're getting from Fiorentina for 1/2 of his rights is Marco's fair market price.
If he plays well for Fiorentina then great. We can sell his other half for some 2m (he'll have only 1 year left of his contract so we can't sell his other half for more). If he doesn't then we can loan him to some team until that year ends and his contract ends. Yeah, we'll lose some 1.5m eur compared to what we would've gotten for him if we sold him now for 4 mil, but have in mind that we at least won't be paying his wages.

This goes only in case Melo isn't included in this transfer. If he is, then we can look at this transfer from another perspective.

Despite Marchionni has shown he has some great potential with Parma and Prandelli remembers that.
Despite the fact that he is Italian, reason good enough for Italian clubs to overpay.
And despite the fact that he was a starter in a team that ranked 2nd in the league.
And he is not thaat old to be considered free, esp as off lately he was injury free.(he might still have 3-4 seasons in him)
I dint expect from Secco to sell him off, for more than 5-6 mil.
Ideally, we would include him in a swap deal, where we could a higher estimated value. For ex, if Fiorentina wants 20mil for Melo, we estimate Marchionni 5-6 mil and we give them 14mil cash too. (the money we offered to Udine for Dago)
Normally, they wouldnt pay the full 6mil, but it sounds far more attractive in a swap deal.

Those 2-2 1/5 mil we got for Marchionni are good for nothing.
I cant understand why we were hurry to make this deal now, as we take no real benefits from it. And why Fiorentina from all teams??
We have to give players for peanuts each and every year???
On theory, they are direct competitors, we should stop doing that.

And i guess we are not interested for Melo anymore, since we have dropped the one of the few bargain cards we had...

If only we were throwing him away, like that, last year...
But we are always one year later.
Mellberg in, Amauri in, Sissoko in, Marchionni in and even Grosso in, would have been exceptional transfers if they were coming just one year earlier!!
We could have avoided so many troubles...

we got 2 M € instant cash + less wages to pay (i guess) so it would make sense, if we would go for andre santos whose wages will perhaps start at what marchionni earned here.

Oh yeah? How come?

Mellberg and Marco were free transfers. If we bought them one year earlier we were going to have to pay for them. This way we didn't pay anything for them and we even got something from their sales. (Plus, Marchionni was signed by Moggi)
Sissoko one year earlier? We were in serie B, how the fuck were we going to buy him?

Even for Grosso i'm not sure if it was smarter to get him earlier. Last year we called De Ceglie back and Grosso's value was around 7-8m eur. WE were hoping De Ceglie was going to earn his spot and deserve to be a starter. He didn't and Grosso's current value is around 2-3m eur and he'll be getting lower wages than what he was going to get last year.

Only for Amauri you can argue that we could've bought him one year earlier. His price was too high in 2007 just as it was in 2008 and since we wanted to sign more players, i doubt we could spend so much money on him.

Marchionni still didn't sign for them. The clubs agreed the deal but the player is yet to accept it. Until then he's a Juve player and this thread stays open.

Btw, Fiorentina fans started protesting against Melo's very likely transfer to Juve.
I wonder if they protested when they got their best player for only 8m eur from us.

He doesn't but he simply has to find something to make drama out of it and attack the board.
I'm fully aware of that.

I just wanted to hear his explanation of why he has put two and two together to make something negative on this occasion.
