Regarding the midfield, I don't have any problems with it since most of the players r used to playing games in the big occasion. With a squad that boasts the likes of Gattuso, Pirlo, Camoranesi, De Rossi, Perrotta and Barone, there isn't really anything to be fearful of since all 6 have played in European competitions.
Basically this Italy squad has all the compartments complete, and with Lippi as the coach, I'm sure Italy will go very far in the SC campaign, barring any injuries to crucial members. Competition is surely present as Italy has so many good players vying for positions.
Lippi does not have replacemants for Pirlo and Totti, but what he can do is to rotate the team around to a new system, as he always does. If Pirlo is off-form, he can play Perrotta as a 2-way midfielder. Spalletti has given Perrotta a new role, which is y he is constantly performing for Roma and eventually receive a call-up. For Totti, well Lippi has got on with the DP - Toni - Gilardino trident which is demonstrated against Germany
But 1 mistake he has committed is the absence of Panucci, he can defend better than Oddo and Zaccardo to be precise, and he should get the nod by right since his performances for Roma has been good this season. Oddo can only make up some of it, but when it comes to defending, Panucci is better. Zaccardo still gives me the creeps. Regards to Lucarelli, I don't exactly know what is Lippi's reason, but I will still respect it, given that both would not get much playing time if they r played.

I must say I'm a little bit scared, because all those things going on at Juventus now, maybe referees won't like us that much just in like Japan and Korea.

Barone, Materazzi, Zaccardo, Totti, Iaquinta
Iaquinta, I believe in him, but I think that people like Locarelli are better than him.
Materazzi: if we really want to get a penalty against us just put him on the field.
Barone: I don't see him giving something extra to the team.
Zaccardo: Blasi can also play on the right-back position, why nog select Balzaretti, Chielini and Pessotto.
Totti: he will try to put the team to his hand, he will pull the game, I think that all the passes will go to totti when he is on the field, he will try a lot, and he will get frustrated and nothing will come right.

abt the replacements for totti and pirlo. I think that one of the many reasons that Lippi chose soo many strikers and alex with them is becuz he can play in the same role totti can. And alex proved to be effective in that role. Although i think totti is irreplaceable.

I'm aware of Alex's capabilites, but u know that if DP is off form again, everybody will be over his head. Alex as a attack midfielder is ok to me. Forgive me for being bias, but Lippi made the correct decision in bringing DP along. With Toni, Gilardino and Inzaghi as strikers and DP and Totti as attacking midfielders cum strikers, the squad is strong.
I think that becos of Pirlo's poor form, I'm starting to doubt his abilities. De Rossi is a bit light weight for me and I prefer Barone as a DM more. DP earnt his call and i think due to his versatility when it comes to playing in the midfield as well as the attack and not forget his effect on games coming from the bench that earnt him his call.
i would also prefer barone to de rossi playing in pirlo's position, and perrota should be playing in a more offensive position.But with barone , the other midfield players will need to step up cuz if pirlo is off form is a big blow to the azzuri

Goodness you cannot get Capello outta your mind can ya? The squad holds no surprises and thats anot always a good thing. I am not very convinced about the abilities of the Palermo bunch of Grosso, Barone and Zaccardo. Materazzi is a joke and everyone knows that. I hope DDR starts every game as he is an all rounder, the likes of which Italy tend not to possess. He is the only midfielder that can attack , defend and head the ball, only suspect thing about him is his temperament, wonder why Roma players are like that. I personally do not like Panucci but to my surprise he was the best right back in seriea last season. I do not know if Tavano would have been worth a shot as you never know who is and who is not a flash in the pan. Iaquinta for all his faults and unpopularity has pace and can bring other players into the game, something i feel Lucarelli lacks and I am still not convinced of Lucarelli's goal scoring abilities at the highest level. Pirlo needs to step as has Nesta. Totti has a big question mark as he is not only unfit , he is not a go to guy in big tournaments for the azzurri or he has not thus far. The only tournament he has done reasonably well in was euro2000 and then he was not the star

In the 2nd part of the season grosso and barone started to look like they were very unconvincing. I thought they did well in the first half. Zaccardo doesnt convince me at all, and i see him as a player that cant handle it on the big stage.
abt Iaquinta, he has the capabilities but for some reason we only saw them in the begining of this season and then he just slept through the season.Will he do well if he got the chance in WC ? I dont know. Personally i would've preferred Tavano.

Just like lippi ignored panucci.

u have a better chance in gettin Sonia Del Piero than u have with gettin a Lebanese girl my friend.Rab will tell u that they are full of cr*pna he wont use that.........switch up toni and totti and im sure he will use that.....
When totti plays good he controls the midfield and is probably the best one touch passer in the game. He thinks on his feet and is the best at controlling a counter attack. He puts the ball where it needs to be.

The group of Palermo players have been unconvincing since Gigi Del Neri took over, this has left gaps for defence and which is y they r unable to perform at this stage. However Palermo did ok in the UEFA Cup competition, only to lose to a more experienced Schalke. Whether big stages or not, yea, they still don't really convince me despite getting called up by Lippi, so I would start Oddo at RB. Regarding Panucci, the hatred was already there, but Panucci decided to light the fuel for the fire and shut himself off. Sad to say, he was the best RB for the whole season I have to admit. But then he is well known for his attitude
